A shoe extension for gait modification includes a vamp section, a base section, an attachment strap, and a restraining mechanism. The vamp section is connected to a top surface of the base section forming a receiving slot. A toe box of a shoe worn on a healthy limb is slidably positioned into the receiving slot such that the base section is positioned along an outsole of the shoe. The attachment strap is utilized to establish a connection with the shoe. By increasing an overall length of the footwear worn on the healthy limb, a speed of motion of the healthy limb may be reduced in order to increase weight bearing on the unhealthy limb. The restraining mechanism, which is preferably integrated into a bottom surface of the base section, may also be used to reduce the speed of motion of the healthy limb.

Shoe extension for patient gait modification

A treadmill may be configured for gait training and/or therapy with attachable/detachable barriers affixable to a belt and/or with a vertical obstacle module and/or with sensor systems, but without requiring hoists, harnesses, attachments to the treadmill or base, or frame, and/or excessively high treadmill frames, such as those that exceed the height of the person on the treadmill. The barriers on the belt are configured to modify movement of only one foot of a person on the treadmill. The treadmill may use a single, integral belt. Methods of gait training and/or therapy may involve such treadmills without excessive expense and without excessive modification of standard treadmill equipment.

A towing safety device is attached to a tow or winch line to dampen the recoil of a line if connecting hardware fails during towing or pulling. The dampener comprises a reversibly closable opening and may be stored empty and folded in a vehicle when not in use. When filled with weighted matter, such as sand, soil or stones found in the field and attached to the towing hardware and tow line at two points, the towing safety device is deployed to avoid or reduce the likelihood of injury or property damage that can occur with a freely ricocheting line.

An energy generating system that utilizes a movement of a fluid/gas includes a plurality of floor tiles, a fluid/gas, and a power generating unit. Preferably, the plurality of floor tiles is layered across an area with high foot traffic. The fluid/gas is confined in a fluid tank positioned underneath the plurality of floor tiles such that a pressure applied on the plurality of floor tiles is transferred onto the fluid/gas, and generates movement in the fluid/gas. The movement allows the fluid/gas to flow towards a plurality of turbines of the power generating unit through a piping network and a plenum passage, and rotate the plurality of turbines. The rotational movement of the turbines is converted into electrical energy by a generator of the power generating unit. The electrical output of the generator is stored in a battery bank.
