A therapeutic laser for use in treating ophthalmological conditions can be modulated by a spatial light modulation device in order to focus the therapeutic laser on a plurality of target locations simultaneously.

An ophthalmological device and system is described that allows the simultaneous imaging of an eye using both scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Further the device and system is capable of targeting and delivering a treatment laser for treatment of an eye condition. The system further can include a machine learning algorithm to provide a suggested treatment procedure.

Opthalmological imaging and laser delivery device, system and methods

An electrochromic (EC) device comprises a first electrode and a second electrode separated by an electrolyte. The first electrode comprises an electrochromic (EC) layer comprising a compound having the formula ABO, where A comprises one or more elements selected from a group consisting of W, Mn, Mo, Co, Ni, Cs, and Zn, where B is different than A and comprises one or more elements selected from a group consisting of Mo, Ti, Nb, and V, where i and j have values that are greater than 0, and where k is a stoichiometric value that balances the formula. A is selected such that the EC layer has an improved optical contrast relative to BOand B is selected such that the EC layer has an improved specific charge capacity relative to AO.

Electrochromic device

There is disclosed a system and method for irradiating extracellular macular deposits through a cornea of an eye utilizing laser pulses. In an embodiment, the method comprises generating laser pulses of between about 1 femtosecond to 1,000,000 femtoseconds in a wavelength range from about 200 nanometers to 30 micrometers; and irradiating the extracellular macular deposits with the laser pulses for a preset temporal duration, energy, wavelength, spectral distribution, energy fluence, and power density. In an embodiment, the laser source generates a laser pulse in the range of about 0.001 nJ to 100 mJ of optical energy. By focusing the laser at a depth targeting extracellular macular deposits, the irradiating laser pulse is configured to ionize, remove, deplete, denature, and destroy the extracellular macular deposits without damaging the retinal pigmented epithelium cell membrane or mascula.

System and method for femtosecond laser pulse treatment of macular degeneracy, retinal drusen treatment, and colloidal bodies of retina removal

A photonic/plasmonic device is disclosed that uses a ferroelectric material and its magnetization state in order to affect the physical properties of electromagnetic waves. The magnetization state of the ferromagnetic material may either be zero or nonzero. When the magnetization state of the ferromagnetic material is non-zero physical properties of the electromagnetic waves are altered. This effect can be used to make switches and the like.

Magnetic spin based photonic/plasmonic devices

A magneto-optic modulator and method are provided. An optical waveguide having a magneto-optic active medium is magnetized by a biasing magnetic field. The magnetization of the magneto-optic active medium is modulated thereby causing a variation in the Faraday effect on optical signals passing through the magneto-optic medium. The result is a polarization modulated optical signal.
