A crosslinked resin made up of polymerized units of a linear polyamine with at least 3 primary and/or secondary amine functionalities and a bisacrylamide. The crosslinked polymers are porous spherical particles with a BET surface area in the range of 50-120 m/g. A method of the synthesizing the crosslinked polymer is specified. A method for using the crosslinked resin as an adsorbent material in removing pollutants including organic dyes (e.g. Congo red, Rhodamine B) and heavy metals from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample is also described.

A memory manager reduces the impact of memory clean-up operations on server performance. The memory manager monitors local memory usage and other resource usage by the server, such as processor, storage, and network usage. When moderately high memory usage is detected, the memory manager performs memory clean-up operations during relatively low processor, storage, and network usage to reduce the impact of the clean-up operations on server performance. When excessively high memory usage is detected, the memory manager more aggressively cleans-up local memory independently of processor, storage, and network usage.

Managing memory usage in server systems

In an enterprise environment that includes multiple data centers each having a number of first servers, computer-implemented methods and systems are provided for detecting faulty storage device(s) that are implemented as redundant array of independent disks (RAID) in conjunction with each of the first servers. Each first server monitors lower-level health metrics (LHMs) for each of the storage devices that characterize read and write activity of each storage device over a period of time. The LHMs are used to generate high-level health metrics (HLMs) for each of the storage devices that are indicative of activity of each storage device over the period of time. Second server(s) of a monitoring system can use the HLMs to determine whether each of the storage devices have been inactive or active, and can generate a fault indication for any storage devices that were determined to be inactive while storage device(s) at the same first server were determined to be active.

System and method for monitoring and detecting faulty storage devices

A content-aware congestion control scheme for software MPLS routers enables the MPLS routers to discard packets with less important content when there is congestion in the network. By employing such content-aware congestion control, the overall quality of multimedia content is not significantly affected, enabling graceful degradation of quality using a Wavelet based compression technique. The MPLS router marks wavelet-based compressed multimedia packets as those containing important or less important contents of compressed and encoded frames. Such markings enable the MPLS router to make decisions according to the packet's priority. At times of congestion, this router restricts the rate of outgoing low priority traffic to allow high priority streams to maintain a gracefully degraded QoS for compressed multimedia content.
