Elastomeric compositions comprising propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer based polyolefin additives useful in tire tread compositions. The elastomeric compositions comprise 100 phr (parts by weight per hundred parts of total elastomer) diene elastomers; about 0 to about 80 phr of processing oil; 0 to about 80 phr of a hydrocarbon resin; about 60 to about 140 phr of filler; a curative agent; and about 5 to about 30 phr of a silane functionalized propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer. The silane functionalized propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer comprises from about 2 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of ethylene and/or C-Cα-olefins derived units, from 0.5 to 10 wt % of diene derived units, and a silane coupling agent. The present elastomeric compositions are useful as tire tread compositions for improved tire performance.

Propylene ethylene diene terpolymer polyolefin additives for improved tire tread performance

Provided herein are isobutylene-based polymer compositions comprising functionalized isobutylene-based polymer with olefinic side chain substituents, and a sulfur donor and/or accelerator cure system. The functionalized polymer is produced via nucleophilic substitution reaction in solution. The present functionalized isobutylene-based polymer compositions together with various accelerators and sulfur donors can form thermosets useful for pharmaceutical and tire applications without the use of zinc or a zinc oxide activator.

Isobutylene-based polymers with olefinic side chain substituents and curable compositions containing the same

Disclosed is a thermoplastic polyolefin composition useful in automotive components comprising at least a polypropylene having a melting point temperature (T) of greater than 130&#xb0; C. and a melt flow rate (230&#xb0; C./2.16 kg) within the range from 10 g/10 min to 80 g/10 min; an amorphous ethylene-propylene copolymer comprising within the range from 40 wt % to 80 wt % ethylene derived units and having a melt flow rate (230&#xb0; C./2.16 kg) within the range from 0.1 g/10 min to 20 g/10 min; and a propylene-based elastomer having within the range from 5 to 25 wt % ethylene derived units and having a Tof less than 110&#xb0; C. The composition only partially breaks or there is no break at &#x2212;29&#xb0; C. (ASTM D256) with Notched Izod Force of between 10 to 40 ft-lb/inat 22&#xb0; C. (533 to 2,132 J/m), and between 1.0 to 12 ft-lb/inat &#x2212;29&#xb0; C. (53 to 636 J/m).

Thermoplastic polyolefin containing amorphous ethylene elastomer

An impact copolymer comprising a polypropylene comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 10, a branching index (g') of less than 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 40 cN, and an elastomer. Also disclosed is a method of making an impact copolymer composition comprising melt-blending the components, sequentially or simultaneously a polypropylene resin comprising at least 50 mol % propylene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) greater than 6, a branching index (g&#x2032;) of at least 0.97, and a melt strength greater than 10 cN determined using an extensional rheometer at 190&#xb0; C.; and within the range from 0.01 to 3 wt % of at least one organic peroxide; and an elastomer.

Propylene-based impact copolymers

Polymer blends comprising at least one olefin block copolymer such as poly(ethylene-b-ethylene/propylene-b-ethylene), and at least one propylene-based elastomer such as a propylene-ethylene random copolymer, such blends useful in elastic hygiene articles. The blends have improved permanent set compared to the propylene-based elastomer alone.
