A composition for manufacturing an electrode, the composition including an electrically conductive carbon-based compound, at least one species able to form a catalyst, and cellulose microfibrils encapsulating chitosan. The cellulose microfibrils create a fibrous mesh binding the composition while limiting coating of the catalyst. Thus, the catalyst remains accessible to the surrounding environment, to allow the redox reactions at the electrode. The electrochemical performances of the electrode are consequently improved. The composition is furthermore particularly adapted for shaping an electrode by 3D printing.

Composition for manufacturing an electrode, electrode and associated method

A device intended to be implanted in a human or animal body, in order to produce hydrogen in situ from molecules present in the body medium in which the device is implanted, this device having an anode and a cathode, which are each electrically connected to a pole of an electrical energy source, and having a semi-permeable material separating the electrodes from the body medium, in which device, when the connection to the electrical energy source is effective in situ, in the presence of body fluid, a closed electrical circuit is formed, with production of hydrogen at the cathode, the semi-permeable material having a cutoff threshold of between 50 and 500 Da.

Thermo-electric generator which is intended to be immersed in a fluid which contains at least one chemical species, comprising two electrodes each having a first end and a second end, the first ends being connected to each other, the generator being configured to generate an electrical voltage between the two ends when a temperature difference is imposed between each first end and the corresponding second end, the temperature difference being such that one end, referred to as the 'hot end', of each electrode has a temperature which is strictly greater than the temperature of the other end. The hot end of at least one electrode comprises a micro-organism or an enzyme which is capable of causing at least one exothermic reaction involving the chemical species.

Thermo-electric generator, associated implantable device and method

The device, that can be implanted in the intestinal cavity, comprises a reactor comprising a semi-permeable or porous membrane or coating linked to a element for attachment to an intestinal or gastric wall. The reactor can be in the form of a ribbon, a structure having more than two faces or an open structure delimiting a lumen, comprising, or formed from, a semi-permeable or porous membrane. The reactor can also delimit, at least partially with the semi-permeable or porous membrane of same, a closed inner space. The reactor can comprise or carry enzymes or micro-organisms, in particular bacteria or yeast. The reactor is used for generating a chemical reaction with one or more molecules present in the intestine, or for producing one or more biologically active molecules. It can, in particular, be used for consuming sugars, disaccharides and simple sugars or producing essential amino acids or other molecules having a positive effect on the health.

Implantable intestinal reactor

The invention concerns a bioreactor obtained by compressing a mixture of an enzyme, a conductor and chitosan. The conductor can consist of carbon nanotubes. This bioreactor can be produced according to the following steps: preparing a mixture of powders in which the proportion of enzyme powder relative to a carbon nanotube powder is of the order of 50/50 by weight; preparing a viscous solution of chitosan in a ratio of 5 to 15 (in mg) of chitosan to 0.75 to 1.25 (in ml) of acetic acid diluted to 0.4 to 0.6% by volume in water; adding the viscous chitosan to the mixture of powders in a proportion be weight of 3 to 5 of powder to 5 to 10 of chitosan; carrying out a first compression followed by light grinding; carrying out a second compression to produce a pellet; and drying at ambient temperature.
