Elastomeric articles are rendered less susceptible to blow or blister defects by providing, in at least one cord reinforcement ply of an article, a plurality of gas absorbing bleeder cords with the reinforcement cords and gas absorbing cords lying in the same general plane and with the gas absorbing cords consisting of staple hollow filaments. The gas absorbing cords may be used as fill yarn in weaving fabric employing parallel reinforcement cords.

Pneumatic tire including gas absorbing cords

Pneumatic tires are rendered less susceptible to blow or blister defects by providing, in at least one cord reinforcement ply of a tire, a plurality of gas absorbing cords with the reinforcement cords and gas absorbing cords lying in the same general plane and with the gas absorbing cords consisting of staple hollow filaments. The gas absorbing cords may be used as fill yarn in weaving fabric employing parallel reinforcement cords.

A method is provided which comprises preparing a drawn, coated polyester yarn by applying an aqueous emulsion of an epoxy resin and spin finish fiber treatment oil to spun or drawn yarn, said oil is comprised of a mixture of pentaerythritol tetraester (C.sub.12 -C.sub.14) fatty acid, polyoxy ethylene nonyl phenol and oleyl diethyl imidazoleimium sulfate.
