A method of operating a turbine assembly is provided. The method includes receiving a flow of air at a filter house that includes a first heat exchanger. The temperature of the air is controlled with the first heat exchanger by one of selectively cooling the air and by selectively heating the air. The air is then channeled from the first heat exchanger to a second heat exchanger to facilitate cooling the air.

Apparatus and method of operating a turbine assembly

An inlet air chilling system for use with a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The inlet air chilling system may include an inlet air filter house, an air chilling/heating coil positioned within the inlet air filter house, and an energy recovery/heating coil positioned downstream of the air chilling/heating coil within the inlet air filter house and in communication with the air chilling/heating coil.

Turbine inlet air heat pump-type system

The cylindrical or conical shaped particle separator operates based on cyclone-induced flow sweeping the face of the cylindrical separator screen, creating inertial separation of suspended particles. The separator screen comprises of multitude of parallel, evenly spaced, asymmetrically profiled, linear, screen elements arranged in a cylindrical or conical grid-like shape parallel with the axis of the cylinder or cone. The cyclone effect is created by the rotational, helical path of the fluid inside or outside of the cylindrical or conical separator screen. The spinning, rotating fluid sweeps the inner or outer side of the stationary or rotating screen, passing approximately perpendicularly over the linear grid-like elements and gaps between the elements. The screen elements may be wires, bars, narrow strips, airfoil vanes or other similar linear elements with a flow separation edge on the trailing end of the profile of the element.

The fluid coil and the thermal energy storage tank are in fluid communication such that fluid is both provided to the fluid coil from the thermal energy storage tank for exchanging heat with the inlet air and returned to the thermal energy storage tank without further heat exchange.

Inlet air heating and cooling system

A heating and cooling system for inlet air of a gas turbine engine in a combined cycle power plant having a steam turbine. The heating and cooling system may include a fluid coil positioned about the gas turbine engine, a heat exchanger in communication with the fluid coil, and a condenser in communication with the steam turbine and the heat exchanger such that waste heat from the steam turbine is forwarded to the fluid coil.

Low grade heat recovery system for turbine air inlet

An application and process that incorporates an external heat source to increase the temperature of the airstream entering a compressor section of a combustion turbine. The application and process may perform an anti-icing operation that may not require an Inlet Bleed Heat system (IBH) to operate. Additionally, the application and process may perform an anti-icing operation that may allow for the IGV angle to remain nearly constant. The application and process may increase the output and efficiency of a combustion turbine operating at partload by delaying IBH operation and delaying the closing IGVs.

System and method for changing the efficiency of a combustion turbine

An embodiment of the present invention provides an air conditioning system located upstream of the inlet system for a gas turbine. The air conditioning system may include at least one conditioning module for adjusting the temperature of the airstream. The at least one conditioning module may have a plurality of forms including at least one of the following systems: a chiller, an evaporative cooler; a spray cooler, or combinations thereof. The specific form of the at least one conditioning module may be determined in part the configuration of the gas turbine.
