The present invention relates to a process for synthesis of a compound according to Formula (A): wherein Ris a substituted or unsubstituted aryl having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; preferably substituted or unsubstituted phenyl; Ris a straight or branched alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and Ris a straight or branched alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms; starting from a di-keto compound according to Formula (B) wherein Ris as shown above, which compound is converted into a ketoenamine compound according to Formula (C) wherein Rand Rare as shown above, which ketoenamine compound is then reduced to an amino alcohol according to Formula (D), wherein Rand Rare as shown above, that is subsequently converted into a compound according to Formula (A): characterized in that the ketoenamine is reduced into an amino alcohol using a nickel aluminium alloy in an aqueous solution of an inorganic base.

An optically clear thermoplastic resin composition is disclosed which comprises structural units derived from substituted or unsubstituted polycarbonate and substituted or unsubstituted polyester, wherein said polyester comprises structural units derived from terephthalic acid and a mixture of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol and ethylene glycol, wherein said ethylene glycol is greater than about 60 mole percent based on total moles of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol and ethylene glycol. Stabilized polycarbonate polyester composition

A process for the preparation of poly(arylcarbonate)s, relying on reaction of dialkyl carbonates with bisphenols and using selected organotin and oganotitanium catalysts. The process is preferably performed in a first step in which bisphenols and dialkyl carbonates are reacted using a catalyst to obtain an oligo(arylcarbonate). The oligo(arylcarbonate) then undergoes a post polycondensation in a second step, either by itself or with diphenyl carbonate. The second step also uses a catalyst. The process yields poly(arylcarbonate)s that are characteristically free of color and gel.
