A metal-organic framework (MOF) includes cadmium, magnesium, linking units of 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid complexed with cadmium and magnesium, and units of guanidine in an amount of 1 to 25 percent by weight (wt. %) based on the total weight of the MOF. The units of guanidine are reacted with the linking units of 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid. The MOF is in the shape of spherical particles with a longest dimension of 50 to 250 nanometers (nm).

Amine appended bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOF-74) for carbon dioxide capture and method of preparation thereof

A recyclable catalyst for carbon dioxide capture includes a porous metal-organic crystallite, where the porous metal-organic crystallite includes a porous complex of Ba ions and units of 4,4',4′-s-triazine-2,4,6-tribenzoic acid. Further, the walls of the pores of the porous metal-organic crystallite have a molecular honeycomb pattern formed by the porous complex, and where the pores of the molecular honeycomb pattern have an average pore width of 17 angstrom (Å) to 19 Å and barium clusters active metal sites. Recyclable catalyst for carbon dioxide capture

A method of carbon dioxide fixation includes contacting a covalent organic framework material with a co-catalyst and an epoxide in the presence of carbon dioxide to form a cyclic carbonate. The covalent organic framework material includes reacted units of a 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3,5-triazine, reacted units of a 4,4'-biphenyldicarbaldehyde, and palladium nanoparticles. The reacted units of the 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3,5-triazine and the reacted units of the 4,4′-biphenyldicarbaldehyde form a COF-701, where the palladium nanoparticles are on an outer surface of the COF-701. The co-catalyst is n-tetrabutylammonium bromide.

Method for carbon dioxide fixation using a palladium-doped nitrogen-rich organic framework catalyst

A method of detecting Hgions in an aqueous solution is described. The method includes contacting the aqueous solution with a metal-organic framework (MOF) chemosensor composite to form a mixture and monitoring a change in an absorption and/or a fluorescence profile of the MOF chemosensor composite in the mixture to determine a presence or absence of Hgions in the aqueous solution. The MOF chemosensor composite includes fluorescein hydrazide (FH); and a MOF, including nickel as a metal ion and at least one trimesic acid (BTC) ligand. A hydrazide group on the fluorescein hydrazide coordinates to the metal ion of the MOF.

Method of detecting mercury ions with a fluorescein hydrazide-appended metal-organic framework as a chemosensor

A method to form a phase change material (PCM). The method includes preparing a polymer solution by mixing an amount of a polymer in a solvent and mixing the polymer solution with an UiO-66 metal-organic framework (MOF) to form a composite. The polymer is a polyethylene glycol (PEG). The method further includes subjecting the composite to ultrasonic agitation and evaporating the solvent from the composite to form the PCM. After the evaporation of the solvent, particles of the PCM exhibit rounded octahedral structures.

A method of fixating COto form a substituted oxazolidinone is described. The method includes mixing a nickel-based metal-organic framework (Ni-MOF) catalyst of formula [Ni(BTC)(HO)]&#xb7;(DMF)(HO), a cocatalyst, an aromatic amine, and at least one epoxide to form a reaction mixture, and further contacting the reaction mixture with a gas stream containing carbon dioxide to react the carbon dioxide in the gas stream with the epoxide and the aromatic amine to form a substituted oxazolidinone mixture. The method further includes adding a polar protic solvent to the substituted oxazolidinone mixture, centrifuging, and filtering to produce a recovered Ni-MOF; and further washing the recovered Ni-MOF with an organochloride solvent and drying for at least 5 hours to produce a recycled Ni-MOF.

Nickel-based metal-organic framework as catalyst for chemical fixation of COin oxazolidinone synthesis

A method of fixating carbon dioxide (CO) to a substituted oxazolidinone. The method includes mixing a metal-organic framework (MOF), a co-catalyst, at least one para-substituted aromatic amine, and at least one epoxide to form a mixture. The method further includes contacting the mixture with a gas stream containing COto react the COin the gas stream with the epoxide and para-substituted aromatic amine to form a substituted oxazolidinone mixture. The MOF is a UiO-66-X MOF, where X is of formula (I) wherein at least one of Rto Ris an allyloxy group, and Rto Rare independently an allyloxy group or a hydrogen.

The method includes contacting a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) with water to form a mixture where the HOF comprises hydrogen bonded units of trimesic acid and guanazole. Zirconium metal-organic framework and a method of capturing carbon dioxide

A palladium selective chemosensor based on a fluorescein-allyloxy benzene scaffold and a method of detecting palladium ions in a fluid sample with the chemosensor, whereby the fluid sample is contacted with a solution that includes water and the chemosensor to form a mixture. An ultraviolet visible absorption profile and/or a fluorescence emission profile of the mixture is measured to determine a presence or absence of palladium ions in the fluid sample, wherein the chemosensor has an ultraviolet visible absorption peak at 315 to 325 nm and a fluorescence emissions peak at 380 to 400 nm in the solution, and wherein a bathochromic shift in the ultraviolet visible absorption peak to 338 to 342 nm in the mixture and/or a bathochromic shift in the fluorescence emissions peak to 530 to 550 nm in the mixture indicates the presence of palladium ions in the fluid sample.

Chemosensor and a method of detecting palladium ions

A method of detecting Pdin an aqueous solution is described. The method involves mixing an Eu-based metal organic framework with the aqueous solution and measuring the amount of fluorescence quenching. The fluorescence quenching is specific to Pdand also allows a 44 ppb detection limit of Pd. The Eu-based metal organic framework may be treated with a metal chelator and reused for sensitive detection of Pd.
