The following pertains to a horizontally-situated high capacity rosin press capable of applying heat and pressure in a chamber to extract and collect rosin from inserted plant materials. The extracted rosin is capable of being collected via gravity-induced drainage, eliminating the need for manual separation of rosin and remaining plant materials.

Rosin presses and related methodologies

A method for accomplishing a plurality of combinatorial processes in parallel using a microelectronic and fluidic array (device array) having micron-sized reservoirs, connecting microchannels and reaction cells etched into a substrate. The device array has a top feedthru plate, a center distribution plate and a bottom cell plate. The top feedthru plate serves as a cover for the device array and contains apertures selectively positioned above the reservoirs located in the center distribution plate. The center distribution plate includes a plurality of micron sized reservoirs, microchannels, reservoir feeds, cell feeds and overflow feeds for the distribution of reagent fluids to the reaction cells located in the bottom cell plate. The detachable bottom cell plate serves as a microlaboratory tray of reaction cells. Once the proper reagents or other materials are introduced into the reaction cells, the bottom cell plate is decoupled from the device array and removed for incubation or analysis.

Device for selective distribution of liquids

A substrate is roboticaly picked up at a station and transported to a measuring station to measure the distance to a reference. The substrate is aligned to a robot before measurement. The measured substrate is then transported to a pharmaceutical or diagnostic powder/grain deposition station where the powder/grains are controllably deposited on the substrate to predetermined thicknesses over a plurality of powder/grain collection zones. The deposited powder/grains are then measured to determine the thickness and area covered by the deposited powder/grains at each collection zone. The substrate is then transported to a lamination station and each collection zone of powder/grains is welded to a cover substrate. The system remembers which collection zones are out of specification so that they can be later selectively discarded.

The present invention provides a liquid distribution system, which is useful in a number of contexts, including in accomplishing various synthetic, diagnostic and drug screening reactions. The distribution system can comprise an alpha reservoir and a beta reservoir, a first set of parallel and adjacent first and second feeder channels and a second set of parallel and adjacent third and fourth feeder channels which are offset from the first and second feeder channels, wherein (a) the first and third feeder channels are connected to the alpha reservoir via a first connector channel that is situated above or below the second and fourth feeder channels and are independent of the beta reservoir and (b) the second and fourth feeder channels are connected to the beta reservoir via a second connector channel that is situated above or below the first and third feeder channels and are independent of the alpha reservoir. Liquid distribution system

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a metallized luminescent screen for a CRT. At least one phosphor layer is deposited (10) on an inner surface of a faceplate panel to form the luminescent screen. The panel containing the screen is then preheated (12) to a temperature equal to, or in excess of, a minimum film-forming temperature and prewetted (14) by applying water to the screen. An aqueous filming emulsion containing a copolymer of acrylates and methacrylates with an average molecular weight of from 250,000 to 500,000 is applied (16) to the prewetted screen and dried (18) to form a film layer. Next, a layer of aluminum is deposited (20) onto the film layer, and the panel, bearing the metallized screen, is sealed to a funnel by heating the panel and the funnel through a sealing cycle. The sealing cycle(22) has a first rate of temperature increase to a first temperature and a second rate of temperature increase, less than the first rate, to a second temperature. The difference between the first temperature and the second temperature is sufficient to volatilize the film layer. The second temperature is maintained (24) for a period of time sufficient to frit seal the panel to the funnel. The sealed faceplate panel and funnel are then cooled (26).

Field-assisted sealing

A tamper detection device can determine whether a housing containing a device has been tampered with either by having the housing penetrated or by an attempt to remove a cover from the housing. The tamper detection device may be a capacitor which is placed across a portion of the housing and whose capacitance changes if it is penetrated. The temper detection device may also be a flexible circuit having conductive strips thereon forming a circuit with means to cause an open circuit if the housing is penetrated or the cover removed from the housing.

Tamper detection device

An apparatus automatically places postcard backings on rolls of developed photo stock. The backings are formed from a roll of bulk label stock such as that sold under the trade name AVERY. The label stock comes with an adhesive layer on its back side, which adhesive is covered by a removable backing sheet. Preferably, indicia have previously been printed on the front side of the label at regular intervals thereon, the size of the intervals corresponding to the size to which the photo postcards will be cut. The two rolls are fed to traction rollers and past a manual calibration register. The backing then is peeled off of the label stock by an automatic peeling-blade which is inserted between the adhesive and the backing. After that, the two lines of feed are led to a laminating press, where they are pressed together and permanently mated by mutual contact with the adhesive layer. The next stage is a cutter which cuts the photo/label combination at the intersections of individual photos. The result is postcards, i.e. stiffened sheets each having a graphic side and a side pre-divided by printed indicia into text, address and stamp areas.

A solid-state detector assembly for a television camera includes a beam-splitting prism having an inlet port and three outlet ports. A pair of mounting plates each having opposed major surfaces extend across the top and bottom of the prism and have a major surface secured to the prism. Each of the mounting plates has a separate pair of spaced slots in its edge adjacent each of the outlet ports. Each of the slots in one of the mounting plates is aligned with a separate slot in the other mounting plate. A separate pair detector support rods extends between the mounting plates adjacent each outlet port. Each of the detector support rods extends through the slots in the mounting plates and projects beyond the major surfaces of the mounting plates. A separate detector is mounted on each of the pair support rods and extends across an outlet port. Each of the detector support rods is secured to the mounting plates by fillets of a bonding material which extend only between the detector support rods and a major surface of the mounting plates.

Multilayer photoresist recording media containing an absorptive layer are improved by forming the absorptive layer from a composition comprising PMMA or a copolymer of methylmethacrylate and methacrylic acid, certain dyes such as hydroxyazobenzoic acid or Sudan Orange G and a suitable solvent. The dyes are insoluble in the solvent of an overlying photoresist layer. The media are substantially free of loss of resolution due to dissolution of the dye into the photoresist layer.
