A medical infusion pump can be configured to sequentially inject solutions from multiple syringes. The medical infusion pump can be configured to automatically sequence the injection either by creating differential fluid pressures during injection or by employing a sequencer that creates differential forces on poppets which form seals between different input ports of the sequencer.

An automatic fueling system includes a pump having a telescoping arm capable of placement in three-dimensional space, a flexibly mounted nozzle on the end of the arm and a docking cone to mate with the fuel port on a vehicle. A camera provides a view of the side of the vehicle on a monitor with guides visible to the operator of the vehicle to assist in locating the vehicle within range of the pump. A light and a camera located adjacent to the nozzle are used to recognize retro-reflective light from an annular target about the intake port. Multiple approximations of the distance and location of the intake port are made with the nozzle moving closer to mating with the intake port. A data link is provided through the mated nozzle with a keypad accessible by the vehicle operator. The vehicle includes a control actuator which selectively couples actuator cables associated with the fuel door and the fuel inlet valve with the emergency brake cable to engage the emergency brake, open the fuel door and open the inlet valve. A vacuum system on an evaporation canister insures that vapor is drawn from the fuel tank as it is being displaced by incoming fuel.

Automatic fueling system and components therefor

Disclosed herein is a fuel sensor suited for sensing the level of fuel in a motor vehicle fuel tank. The fuel tank includes an interior mounting to which the fuel sensor is affixed. The fuel sensor has a cantilever member extending in a substantially horizontal direction from the mounting to a free end. The cantilever member is substantially rigid but can be deflected in the vertical direction. A probe is affixed at the free end of the cantilever member to extend in a substantially vertical orientation approximately the full height of the fuel tank. A stabilizer member is affixed at one end to the mounting and at an opposing end to the probe. The stabilizer member has a pivot segment between the ends permitting the probe to move vertically but not horizontally. According to Archimedes's principle, the probe encounters a buoyant force equal to the weight of displaced fuel which induces strain in the cantilever member. The strain is detected by a strain gauge rigidly coupled to a surface of the cantilever member. The strain gauge produces a resistance that causes a voltage difference across the strain gauge, when a voltage is applied. This voltage difference is calibrated to indicate the level of fuel in the fuel tank. The probe is lightweight such that it is highly sensitive to small variations in fuel level. Additionally, the sensor include probes of various profiles such that it can be adapted to provide a linear fuel level reading in automobile fuel tanks with irregular profiles.

Motor vehicle fuel level sensor

An apparatus and method of for measuring fluid levels in a fluid tank ( ) utilizing a no moving parts fluid level sensor ( ). The apparatus comprises a hollow sensing tube ( ) sealed to a pressure sensor ( ). The pressure sensor ( ) measures air column pressure as a function of hydrostatic pressure within the fluid tanks ( ). By modifying the design of the hollow sensing tube ( ) to incorporate at least 30% of the volume at its bottom end, the accuracy of the fluid level measurements may be increased by decreasing the meniscus level ( ) deviation in the hollow sensing tube ( ). Further, by adding a flexible diaphragm ( ) to the bottom end that does not allow fluid to enter the hollow sensing tube ( ), the accuracy of the fluid level measurements may be further increased by eliminating the meniscus level ( ) altogether. Also, design modifications may be made to the hollow sensing tube ( ) that ensures that the bottom end of the hollow sensing tube ( ) is located at the bottom A of the fluid tank ( ), or that ensures that fluid slosh effect is dampened, or ensures that the hollow sensing tube ( ) is located in the center of the fluid tank ( ).

Fluid level sensor without moving parts

A method of leak testing a walled tank (,) that has multiple joints containing closures or closure devices (,) closing openings in the wall. Rims (,) of multiple cups (,) are disposed against the tank wall to place the cup interiors in substantial sealed covering relation to underlying zones of the tank wall containing joints to be checked. A tank seal (,) is disposed fluid-tight against a fill spud (,) in the tank wall, and a test gas, helium, is introduced into the interior of the tank. Gas from within the interior of each cup is sampled via a respective sampling conduit (,), and a purge gas is introduced into the interior of each cup via a respective purge conduit (,) while the gas from the interior of each cup is being sampled via the respective sampling conduit.

Helium leak tester for vehicle fuel tanks

An adjustable trailer hitch device that is affixed to the undercarriage of a vehicle so as to be supported by the chassis and bumper mounting brackets thereof without modification, welding, drilling, or bolting. The hitch is adjustable as to width, height, and depth, and includes a retractable tension cord having a hook at the end thereof for hooking onto the chassis. The tension cord is tensioned by winding or reeling, and also by extending the length of a vertically oriented compression member extending fore of the vehicle from the aft section of the hitch so as to apply an increased force to the underside of the chassis of the vehicle. A pair of vertically and horizontally adjustable jaws retractably grip the port and starboard bumper mounting brackets of the vehicle which, with the hook, attach the hitch device to the chassis of the vehicle.
