A method and system for implementing a guaranteed observance window is provided. Specifically, the guaranteed observance window may be implemented in telecommunication. The method may include determining an available message size, determining an observance window, and setting a time slot sensitivity based on the message size and the desired observance window. The method may further include detecting a first event, setting a first bit of a message to a logic high when the first event is detecting, and advancing a location of the first bit within the message with the passage of each time intervals that correspond to the time slot sensitivity.

A method and system for dynamically broadcasting device data using a standard Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) advertisement packet is provided. Specifically, the Bluetooth advertisement packet can be Bluetooth 4.0 compatible that has a maximum payload size of 31 bytes excluding MAC address. The Bluetooth advertisement packet can be modified to include one or more data corresponding to one or more parameters gathered or detected by one or more sensors. The parameters can include acceleration, velocity, temperature, pressure, and the like. A BLE device employing the data schemes disclosed herein can further be configured to broadcast multiple advertisement packets each containing different data corresponding to different parameters. Thus, expending the payload capacity of advertisement packets without having to initiate pairing between a remote device and the BLE device and maintains backward compatibility without requiring the remote device to be advertising extensions (Bluetooth 5.0) compatible.

In one aspect, a method for controlling lighting is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes setting an initial setting for lighting characteristics for light emitted by lighting devices; and recording user adjustments to the lighting characteristic from the initial setting as user data. The method further includes analysis of the user data with a remote light setting computing system to determine a lighting model for providing a predictive light characteristic light setting in response to an environment factor based input; and inputting environmental factors into the model produced by the remote light setting computing system to provide a predictive light characteristic setting. Light being emitted from the light emitting devices is then adjusted to the predictive light characteristics using a local controller in response to a user lighting request.

A lighting control system that includes a first transceiver in a controller device for IEEE 802 connection to a routed mesh network that connects the control device to a luminaire. The routed mesh network is based on an IEEE 802 standard and includes a first WiFi connection of the controller device to a router, a second WiFi connection of the router to a gateway, and a gateway connection from the gateway to the luminaire. The lighting control system further includes a second transceiver based on Bluetooth radio frequency standard, the second network including a first Bluetooth connection between the controller device and the luminaire, and a second network connection between the controller device and the gateway. The lighting control system further includes a data exchange application run from the controller device for sharing address information for the gateway and the luminaires between the first and second network.

In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a self-identifying optical transmitter for broadcasting a one-way authentication code using light-based communication. The transmitter may include a memory for storing an identifier of the transmitter, a processor for generating a data signal including an identifier of the transmitter, a modulator for receiving the data signal and generating an electrical signal, the modular generating the electrical signal by modulating the data signal. The transmitter may also include a light source for receiving the electrical signal, converting the electrical signal into an optical signal, and continuously broadcasting the optical signal as an optical data transmission stream. The optical data transmission stream may be used to verify that a receiving mobile device is near the transmitter. The transmitter may also include an optical surface for dispersing the optical data transmission stream as the optical data transmission stream is emitted from the transmitter.

In one aspect, the present disclosure related to a method for modifying a beacon light source for use in a light-based positioning system. In some embodiments, the method includes selecting a modulation scheme for the light source, determining a duty cycle for the light source based on the modulation scheme, the duty cycle having a proportion of time the light source is in an on state and a corresponding proportion of time the light source is in an off state, the proportion of time the light source is in an off state resulting in reduced luminosity of the light source, and supplying additional power to the light source to compensate for the reduced luminosity of the light source by the duty cycle.

Method and system for modifying a beacon light source for use in a light based positioning system

A device controls the dimming of a solid-state light source. The device includes a microcontroller configured to receive a rectified phase-cut signal. The microcontroller is configured to measure, within a given period, a duration of a low state of the rectified phase-cut signal and output a low value based thereon. The microcontroller is also configured to measure, within the given period, a duration of a high state of the rectified phase-cut signal and output a high value based thereon. The microcontroller generates an output signal based on at least one of the low value and the high value.

Solid-state light source dimming system and techniques

Systems and methods are provided that disclose providing a positioning service for devices based on light received from one or more light sources. This light based positioning service uses light information transmitted by each light source to determine the position of the device. The positioning information can include three dimension position information in a building that can then be used to deliver services and information to a mobile device. The content delivered to a mobile device can include multimedia, text, audio, and/or pictorial information. The positioning information along with other location or positioning information can be used in providing augmented reality or location aware services. The light sources can be independent beacons that broadcast information in visible light at a rate that is undetectable by the human eye. Content can be retrieved from a server over a communications connection.
