A ducted smoke detector includes a housing defining an interior cavity, an air inlet in fluid communication with the interior cavity, an air outlet in fluid communication with the interior cavity, a smoke sensing chamber disposed in the interior cavity, and a particulate separator disposed between and in fluid communication with the air inlet and the smoke sensing chamber in the interior cavity. The particulate separator includes a shaft, a perforated wall disposed around the shaft, and a plurality of deflection vanes disposed on the shaft. The perforated wall extends from a first open end to a second open end, is connected to the shaft, and is configured to rotate with the shaft. The plurality of deflection vanes is disposed on the shaft and extend radially outward toward the perforated wall, the plurality of deflection vanes configured to rotate with the shaft and the perforated wall.

Inverters that interface dc and ac power sources and loads are provided. An example application is solar power systems, in which a dc source of power is an array of solar panels; the inverter converts the dc power supplied by these panels to ac power that is fed into the utility grid. Another example is battery energy storage; the inverter changes the dc power of the batteries into ac power that is fed into the grid, and also can convert (rectify) ac power from the grid for charging the batteries. In one embodiment, for example, an inverter comprises slow switches that generate a three-level ac voltage, followed by a plurality of fast-switching half-bridges that introduce high-frequency pulse-width modulation into a plurality of ac output voltages.

The method includes reading a tag coupled to a pallet storing cargo, determining a cargo type of the cargo, and initializing a configuration of parameters for the multi-parameter sensor based on the cargo type. The method also includes monitoring a cargo hold storing the cargo based at least in part on the initialized configuration of the multi-parameter sensor, and displaying the cargo type and hazard definition. Also provided are embodiments for a hazard protection system.

A sleeving apparatus includes a worm gear. The worm gear has a plurality of threads, the worm gear receptive of a bead between adjacent threads of the plurality of threads. A plurality of flexible diaphragms are positioned along the worm gear. Each diaphragm of the plurality of diaphragms is configured to position a wire in alignment with a central bead opening of the bead. With rotation of the worm gear about a worm gear axis, the bead advances onto the wire with the wire passing into the central bead opening. The plurality of diaphragms are configured to allow passage of the bead through each diaphragm of the plurality of diaphragms.

An advance pneumatic detector to indicate pressure changes in an environment includes a switch, a pressure tube, an endcap, a piston, and a magnet. The pressure tube is connected to the switch. The endcap is disposed on an end of the pressure tube opposite from the switch. The piston is disposed within and forms a seal against the pressure tube. The piston is slidably engaged with the pressure tube. The magnet is slidably attached to and surrounds a portion of the pressure tube. The magnet is configured to control the positioning of the piston within the pressure tube.

The wrap is flush with the fill port, the discharge outlet, the mechanical attachment lug, and the pressure switch.

A pneumatic sensing apparatus for use in an overheat or fire alarm system includes a sensor tube containing a pressurized gas in communication with a pressure sensor configured to sense a temperature variation based on changes of the pressurized gas. A pressure switch is coupled to the pressure sensor. The pressure switch includes a signal transducer configured to provide an output indicative of an overheat or fire alarm condition.

A sensor includes a housing, at least one sensor component disposed within the housing such that there is space between the housing and the sensor component, and a vibrational damping material disposed within the space to dampen vibration of the sensor components relative to the housing. The sensor can be a thermal sensor. For example, the thermal sensor can be a linear thermal detector, an optical flame detector, or any other suitable type of sensor or combination of sensors.

A linear-thermal-sensor testing system has a signal generator and a reflection analyzer. The signal generator generates a series of damped sinusoidal impulse signals each of a different frequency, and transmits the damped sinusoidal impulse signals to a first end of the linear thermal sensor. The linear thermal sensor generates a reflection signal corresponding to each of series the damped sinusoidal impulse signals at a plurality of electrical discontinuities in the linear thermal sensing array. The reflection analyzer receives a reflection signal from the first end of the linear thermal sensor. The reflection signal has indicia of electrical properties and locations within the linear thermal sensor for each of the plurality of electrical discontinuities. The reflection analyzer calculates the electrical properties and the locations within the linear thermal sensor based on the indicia of the received reflection signal.

An embodiment of a cable assembly includes a cable including at least a shielded conductor, a mating connector mounted to a first assembly end, and an elongated strain relief grommet disposed longitudinally between the cable and the mating connector. The strain relief grommet includes a grommet body formed from a compressible material. The body includes a first grommet end portion disposed proximate to the mating connector, and a second grommet end portion disposed distal to the mating connector.
