A first image including a first sensor placed on a target can be recorded at a first resolution. Using an accelerometer, an orientation of the first image can be determined concurrently with recording of the first image. The orientation of the first image can be associated with an orientation of the first sensor placed on the target within the first image. A user input indicating a boundary surrounding the first sensor in a portion of the first image can be received via a graphical user interface (GUI). The orientation of the first sensor within the first image can be compared with a predetermined reference orientation and a determination made whether the orientation of the first sensor within the first image matches the predetermined reference orientation. When the orientation of the first sensor within the first image matches the predetermined reference orientation, a confirmation can be output via the GUI.

Ensuring correct portable sensor placement

A method for consistently mounting a removable sensor to a machine is provided. The method includes recording, by camera, an image including a sensor placed on a target. The sensor includes a first plane marked with a first color that is perpendicular to a first sensor axis representing a positive axis direction. The method also includes determining, by accelerometer, an image orientation concurrently with the recording. The method further includes identifying the sensor within the image. The method additionally includes determining, using the identified first color, a sensor orientation within the image relative to the image orientation. The sensor orientation includes the positive axis direction. The method also includes comparing the sensor orientation to a reference orientation. The method further includes determining the sensor orientation matches the reference orientation and recording a target measurement in response. The method also includes outputting, by GUI, confirmation of that the measurement was recorded.

Consistent portable sensor placement

Equipment monitoring employing time-triggered Ethernet communications is provided. Two or more sensor assemblies can be configured to transmit sensor signals representative of one or more operating parameters of a machine to a monitoring system over a token ring Ethernet network. The monitoring system can synchronize timing between the sensor assemblies and schedule timing of respective sensor signal transmissions to bound latency of the scheduled transmissions. Alternatively, or additionally, the monitoring system can include an Ethernet backplane configured to allow Ethernet communication between two or more processing cards coupled thereto. A switch in communication with the Ethernet backplane can schedule transmissions between the processing cards coupled to the Ethernet backplane to guarantee latency of the scheduled transmissions.

Equipment monitoring systems and devices

System and method for verifying a monitoring and protection system's (MPS) configuration and installation are disclosed. The MPS includes a plurality of input/output (I/O) channels configured to couple to at least one sensor sensing machinery operations, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) communicatively coupled to the plurality of I/O channels, where the ADC is configured to receive at least one signal from the plurality of I/O channels communicated by the sensor and is configured to convert the signal to a digital data. The MPS also includes a processor communicatively coupled to the ADC, where the processor is configured to derive a state based on the digital data, and an excitation system communicatively coupled to the ADC, where the excitation system is configured to excite an excitation signal for a selected system state as a replacement for the signal.
