A busway for power distribution to equipment positioned in information technology racks includes a plurality of locations in the busway suitably being configured to receive a plurality of detachably engageable taps. The busway, which are external to the information technology racks, includes a plurality of segments, each of which are detachably engaged with one another and including at least one of the plurality of locations. The busway provides power to the information technology racks by respective taps, where each of the taps includes a respective electrical sensor that senses at least one of a voltage level and a current level. Each of the electrical sensors providers an output signal to a computing device.

Electrical fault detection for a modular busway

A system for measuring electrical network parameters may include a voltage sensing node of an electrical network with a first clock and a current sensing node of the electrical network with a second clock. At least one of the voltage sensing node and the current sensing node synchronizes the first clock with the second clock. The voltage sensing node samples a voltage signal from a voltage transducer and the current sensing node samples a plurality of current signals from respective current transducers. The voltage sensing node resamples the sampled voltage signal to determine corresponding resampled voltage signals, and the current sensing node resamples each of the sampled current signals to determine corresponding resampled current signals. The voltage sensing node communicates (1) corresponding re-sampled voltage signals and (2) a voltage time stamp based on the synchronized first clock associated with the sampled voltage signal to the current sensing node through a communication link. The system calculates electrical network parameters at the current sensing node based upon the re-sampled voltage signals and the re-sampled current signals.

Distributed electrical energy meter

An energy metering system includes a plurality of current sensors suitable to sense current levels in a respective power conductor and each of said plurality of current sensors providing a respective first signal indicating respective the current levels. The energy metering system includes a plurality of non-contact voltage sensors suitable to sense voltage levels in a respective power conductor and each of the plurality of non-contact voltage sensors providing a respective second signal indicating respective the voltage levels. The energy metering system includes a monitoring device that receives each of the respective first signals and receives each of the respective second signals, and the monitoring device provides an indication of whether a circuit breaker has tripped based upon a respective first signal corresponding with one of the power conductors and whether the second signal indicates an insubstantial voltage level for the corresponding one of the power conductors.

A method of configuring a power meter may include comparing a maximum power measurable by the power meter to a pulse output power comprising a pulse having an initial pulse weight and an initial pulse duration. The power meter may change at least one of the pulse weight and the pulse duration until the pulse output power is at least equal to the maximum power measurable by the power meter.

The present invention preferably places a hardware circuit between the SCU's ARCNET transceiver and the backplane bus rather than a parallel snooper circuit. This circuit builds the map based on the tokens it observes. When the circuit detects the token for the SCU, it blocks the token transmission to the SCU's ARCNET transceiver. It then sends a minimum length 'ping' message to each unit that was present on the bus during the last token rotation, but is not present during the token rotation that just ended. Since units that have lost their token can still respond to a Free Buffer Enquiry message, the circuit can use it as a ping to verify whether the missing unit(s) are actually missing or have just lost their token due to noise. After verification, the token is forwarded to the SCU's ARCNET transceiver.
