Method and apparatus for power mode control for electric propulsion vehicles are provided that include a sensor to detect a vehicle door cycle, a processor to establish an occurrence of a vehicle motion, a processor operative to initiate a timer having a default time duration in response to the occurrence of the vehicle motion and the vehicle door cycle and to generate a user prompt to extend the default time duration, the processor being further operative to transition an operating mode to a shutdown mode in response to an expiration of the time, and to extend to the default time duration in response to the user input, and a display operative to display a user interface in response to the user prompt and to receive a user input indicative of a request to extend the default time duration of the timer and to couple the user input to the processor.

A system and method for controlling a door locking system includes a controller and at least one locking mechanism operatively connected to each of a plurality of doors. At least one lock switch connected to the controller selectively locks the at least one locking mechanism based at least partially on actuation of the at least one lock switch. At least one sensor array connected to the controller detects a vehicle condition from at least one of a first vehicle state and a second vehicle state.

Methods and apparatus are provided for handling the response sequence with geometric elimination of a plurality of keyless fobs. The remote fobs are interrogated with a body control module. A first signal is issued from a first set of remote fobs in a first time slot in response to the interrogation signal from the body control module. A second signal is issued from a second set of remote fobs in a second time slot in response to the interrogation signal from the body control module. The second time slot differs from the first time slot. A first remote fob is authenticated when the first signal is received by the body control module in a free and clear state. The second remote fob is authenticated when the second signal is received by the body control module in the free and clear state. If neither the first nor second signals are received in the free and clear state, the remote fobs are re-interrogated by the body control module.

A vehicle door lock system includes an interior door handle for a rear door. A door release switch is mechanically connected to the interior door handle. A child door lock switch for the rear door is accessible by a driver. A power release door latch for the rear door is electrically connected to the door release switch and mechanically connected to the interior door handle. A mechanical child door lock switch is located on the rear door and that is mechanically connected to the power release door latch. A control module communicates with the child door lock switch, the power release door latch and the door release switch. The control module is configured to electrically actuate the power release door latch when the mechanical child door lock switch is in a locked position, the child door lock switch has an unlocked state and the door release switch is in an active state.

System and method for detecting presence of one or more user identification device

Methods, apparatus and systems are provided for communications between a vehicle and a remote device using a first vehicle communications module that communicates via a first communication channel. One exemplary method involves transmitting, by a second vehicle communications module via a second communication channel, an indication of an operating state of the first communications module, receiving, by the first communications module via the first communication channel, an acknowledgment responsive to the indication from the remote device, and changing the operating state of the first communications module in response to receiving the acknowledgment.

The activation is initiated in response to a request from an operator-controlled device. The passive verification also includes verifying a presence of the operator-controlled device indicative of a presence of an operator of a vehicle, transmitting intermittent signals to the operator-controlled device, monitoring response signals received in response to the intermittent signals, and continuing activation of the power-operated vehicle component until the activation is complete so long as the response signals are received responsive to the monitoring.

The control module includes control logic for sending an inquiry signal if the signal indicating the driver's side front door is opened is received by the control module. Methods and apparatus are provided for an electronic control unit that can be adjusted or changed to operate in different manners for different circumstances. The apparatus includes an electronic control unit (ECU) for operation of a plurality of electronic components, such as latch motors. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a plurality of inputs configured to receive a connection from a plurality of handle sensors, and a plurality of outputs configured to connect to the plurality of latch motors. The ECU also comprises a conversion loop with a receptacle and a receptacle circuit. The receptacle circuit can be configured as either an open or closed circuit, and the receptacle circuit is accessible via the receptacle. The ECU is configured to operate in either a first mode or a second mode depending on whether the receptacle circuit is open or closed.
