An information handling system may include at least one information handling resource and a power management subsystem configured to: receive signals from a plurality of power supply units, each signal indicative of an environmental parameter associated with a respective power supply of the plurality of power supply units; determine, for each of the plurality of power supply units, a respective environmental effective power capacity based on the respective signal indicative of the environmental parameter for such power supply unit and an environmental profile for such power supply unit; and manage power consumption of the at least one information handling resource based on environmental effective power capacities of the plurality of power supply units.

An information handling system may include a power system comprising a plurality of power supply units and a management controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of power supply units. A chassis includes power supply units configured to be a primary source of power for several information handling systems. A chassis management controller monitors a power capacity of the power supply units, and sends a measure of first available power of the power supply units to one of the information handling systems. If the power limit of a sled connector is at least equal to the first power requirement of the information handling system, then it may be determined whether a total power available for the information handling system is at least equal to the first power requirement of the one information handling system. If the total power available for the information handling system is at least equal to the first power requirement of the information handling system, then the information handling system may be powered on.

The second chassis management controller receives the first number of power supply units from the first chassis management controller, and asserts a second chassis armed signal to the servers in response to a detection that the first number of power supply units being greater than zero.

System and method of managing information handling systems

In one or more embodiments, one or more systems, processes, and/or methods may determine first power supply units associated with a first power supply grid of power supply grids that are configured to provide power to information handling systems (IHSs) and second power supply units associated with a second power supply grid of the power supply grids; may determine that the power supply grids are configured for grid redundancy; may determine that a number of operational power supply units of the first power supply units meets a minimum number of operational power supply units to provide power to the IHSs; may determine that a number of operational power supply units of the second power supply units not the minimum number of operational power supply units; and may suppress an alert of at least one of the second power supply units that is not operational to provide power to the IHSs.

System and method of operating one or more information handling systems

A method may include monitoring a power capacity of power supply units of a chassis, responsive to determining that the power capacity is lesser than a first minimum power capacity required for full operation of all of the modular information handling systems and information handling resources of the chassis and greater than a threshold power capacity for triggering operation in a minimal operational state of the chassis, causing at least one of the plurality of modular information handling systems and the information handling resources to reduce power consumption, and responsive to determining that the power capacity is lesser than the threshold power capacity and greater than a second minimum power capacity for a minimal operational state of the modular information handling systems and information handling resources, causing at least one of the plurality of modular information handling systems and the information handling resources to operate in the minimal operational state.
