A compression device for compressing an area of tissue surrounding a tissue opening to close the tissue opening. The device includes a compression support frame having an outer peripheral edge forming an arc whose central angle is less than 180° and greater than 45°. The device also includes a compression support and a tension member. The compression support is mounted on the compression support frame, and the tension member is selectively slidable in relation to the compression support.

Compression device for closing tissue openings and methods of using thereof

A method for closing a puncture in tissue that includes advancing a guide member into proximity with the tissue, the guide member having a needle guide, positioning a distal end of the guide member with the needle guide toward the tissue to present an opening of the needle guide toward the tissue the needle guide cooperating with a suture securing device that is slidably coupled to the guide member and a suture attached to the suture securing device, deploying the suture securing device, the suture securing device comprising a body with an anchor point for the suture and features that allow the suture securing device to pierce the tissue and resist retraction through the tissue, and establishing tension in the suture to move the suture securing device toward another suture securing device to thereby close the puncture in the tissue.

A vessel closure device for delivering immediate hemostasis at a puncture site in a wall of a blood vessel includes an intravascular anchor having one or more suture attachment points, an extravascular cap having a lumen, a sealant, and a suture connected to at least one of the one or more suture attachment points of the intravascular anchor and threaded through the lumen of the extravascular cap, wherein each of the intravascular anchor, extravascular cap, sealant, and suture are formed of bioabsorbable materials.

A device for closing an opening in a body lumen, the device having a first elongate member with a first lumen, a second elongate member distal the first elongate member, and a needle assembly slidably cooperating with the first elongate member to position a plurality of sutures within the lumen of the first elongate member. The needle assembly includes a needle base and a plurality of needle portions extending from the needle base. Slidable movement of the needle assembly in relation to the first elongate member locates the plurality of sutures selectively mounted to the needle assembly within the first lumen.

An access closure device for closing an opening in tissue is provided. The access closure device may comprise a balloon delivery system and a sealant delivery system. The balloon delivery system may comprise a suture, a delivery shaft, an inflatable balloon, and a balloon segment releasably attached to the delivery shaft. The sealant delivery system may comprise a sealant delivery shaft, an ejection tube, and a snare wire configured to snare a suture of the delivery system.

Access closure device

A closure system for closing an opening in tissue, the closure system including a closure device and a knot replacement device configured to position a suture lock on a suture. The closure device includes a housing, a needle actuation handle cooperating with the housing, a first hollow needle selectively movable by the needle actuation handle and operatively cooperating with a suture anchor frictionally engaged with a slot and a lumen of the first hollow needle and coupled to a suture. Devices for closing a passage through tissue communicating with a body lumen. The device may include an elongate body, a sheath disposed at the distal end of the device for disposition within a body lumen, a hollow needle disposed within a needle lumen of the body, the needle being selectively advanceable through the needle lumen, a suture-anchor ejection mandrel disposed within the hollow needle that is also selectively advanceable through the hollow needle, a suture-anchor and suture disposed within the hollow needle, a distal end of the suture attached to the suture anchor for ejection out the hollow needle by the mandrel. A needle guide disposed between the sheath and proximal end of the body may include a needle port through which the needle can exit. A hemostatic plug is disposed over the needle port so as to be penetrated by the needle upon exiting the port.

A surgical device for suturing a body lumen is described, as well as methods for suturing tissue employing the surgical device. The device can include a body having a shaft and a foot for insertion into an opening in the body lumen. The device can include tissue ports between the shaft and the foot configured to receive tissue surrounding the opening in the body lumen. The foot can include a suture secured to needle capture devices. The device can include needles that can be advanced through tissue and into the needle capture devices. The needle capture devices can then be withdrawn, thereby harvesting the suture, which can then be used to close the opening in the body lumen.
