A key cutting machine for cutting keys by code has a vise jaw for securely holding a key with a groove of the key aligned with respect to the vise jaw and with at least one of a tip of the key and a shoulder of the key positioned at a predetermined position with respect to the vise jaw, a key cutter, a position detector for detecting a blank edge of the key held by the vise jaw, a movement system for moving the key cutter and the vise jaw relative to one another to cut the key; and a controller for controlling the movement system to carry out a predetermined sequence of movements according to code information. The code information is referenced with respect to a blank edge of a side of the key to be cut, and the predetermined sequence of movements being referenced to the detected blank edge position. A key is cut with the key held in the vise jaw with a groove of the key aligned with respect to the vise jaw without needing to align the key with respect to a keyrest. For a double sided key having standard code information, the key is placed against a keyrest and the position detector is used to determined the width of the key. The second side of the key is then cut with the key held in the vise jaw with a groove of the key aligned with respect to the vise jaw without needing to align a remaining blank side with respect to a guide. For a double sided key having code information including a width parameter of the key blank, the key is placed against a keyrest and the position detector is used to determined the actual width of the key blank. The predetermined sequence of movements is then modified to compensate for differences in key blank width.

Key cutting machine for cutting keys by code

The security arrangement prevents unauthorized removal of the push button lock arrangement from a door on which it is installed. The door has an inner surface and an outer surface and the push button lock arrangement includes a first housing for mounting on the inner surface and a second housing for mounting on the outer surface. A first cover plate is removably mounted on the first housing adjacent the inner surface of the door, and a second cover plate is mounted on the second housing adjacent the outer surface of the door. The security arrangement consists of co-operating elements mounted on the first cover plate and the second cover plate.

Security arrangement for push button lock

The push-button lock arrangement includes a permutation chamber, and, in accordance with the invention, the combination of the permutation chamber can be changed without dismantling the lock arrangement and without the use of special tools. A cam, which is rotated by a simple screwdriver, activates the end of the lock-out slide of the permutation chamber to put the permutation chamber in its reset mode. The lock arrangement also includes a rotating stop member and a stationary stopper. The rotating stop member is connected to the outside door knob so that the rotation of the outside door knob is constrained to a predetermined angle of rotation.

Push-button lock arrangement

A permutation lock chamber has a chamber shaft extending therethrough which is held against rotation when the chamber is in a locked condition and which is rotatable when the chamber is in an unlocked condition. The chamber shaft is connected to the shaft of an outer door handle through a clutch. When the chamber is in its unlock condition and the outer door handle is rotated, the clutch engages and the chamber shaft rotates with the outer door handle shaft. When the chamber is in its locked condition and the outer door handle is rotated, the clutch slips to permit rotation of the outer door handle shaft without rotation of the chamber shaft.

Cylindrical and permutation lock arrangements with clutch

The pushing in of the push-button of the cylinder lock is detected by detecting the associated motion of the locking rod. An electronic signal is provided upon the detection of such motion. In specific embodiments, the detector consists of a switch mounted on either the locking rod or locking rod cylinder, and an associated cam mounted on either the locking rod cylinder or the locking rod.

A clutch system for use in the door locking arrangement has a drive member. A latch acutating member and a permutation lock reset member are disposed on either side of the drive member. The drive member is operatively connected to the actuating means, for example a door knob or a lever handle, so that the drive member drives the latch actuating member, to retract the latch member of the door locking arrangement, when a correct combination has been inserted into the permutation lock of the door locking arrangement. When an incorrect combination has been inserted, the drive member drives the permutation lock reset member to reset the permutation lock. A linkage operatively connects both the latch operating member and the permutation lock reset member to the control shaft of the permutation lock. The linkage serves to operatively connect the control shaft to the actuating means either through the drive member and the latch actuating member when the correct combination has been inserted, or through the drive member and permutation lock resetting member when an incorrect combination has been inserted. The linkage is symmetrically disposed so that only minor modifications are required to adapt the arrangement from an actuating means which rotates in a counter-clockwise direction to an actuating means which rotates in a clockwise direction.

An actuator assembly is mounted in a housing and is actuatable by a solenoid carried in the housing. The housing also includes, integral therewith, a card reading arrangement.

Electronic card-operated door lock

A lock mechanism incorporating a coupling device through which rotation of a lock plug is transmitted to a bolt actuating shift, and which readily allows for interchangeability of key removable locking cores of different axial lengths in a door knob in any of a plurality of different positions of rotation of the lock plug.

Lock mechanism

A positive deadbolt locking system having a spring-biased deadbolt normally biased toward a retracted unlocked position or selectively and alternatively toward an overcenter locked position. The deadbolt is selectively in the fully unlocked or fully locked position of the locking system.

Deadbolt locking system

A permutation lock having pushbutton code controls and automatic cancelling of the code when the latch is operated for opening the door. An adjustable time-delay device is provided for disabling the operation of the lock after a predetermined time from when the code is inserted in the lock chamber. The time delay device disables the lock after the duration of a predetermined time.

Automatic delay relocking device

A sliding glass door lock having a ratchet locking bar fastened to one sliding door, and a locking mechanism having a housing forming an abutment engaging the other sliding door. A window is formed in a base plate of the housing which lies adjacent to the door in the locked position and allows access for release and replacement of the cylinder lock when the lock is unlocked.

An actuator assembly having a clutch mechanism with an input disc and an output disc. Mechanisms are provided for rotating the input disc and preventing rotation of the output disc with the input disc when the assembly is in a rest condition, and for effecting a rotation transmitting connection between the input disc and the output disc when the assembly is in an actuated condition. A mechanism is also provided for automatically returning the assembly from the actuated condition to the rest condition: (1) if the first input disc is rotated within a given time delay, upon the rotation; or (2) if the first disc is not rotated within the given time delay, upon the expiration of the time delay. Thus, the second output disc can be rotated only once within the time delay, and the second disc is not rotatable at all if the first disc is not rotated within the time delay.
