Disclosed herein is a chair that includes a backrest portion, a seat portion coupled with the backrest portion, a column portion coupled with the seat portion, a linkage coupled with the backrest portion, a leaf spring in direct contact with the linkage, an arc-shaped toothed structure fixed translationally relative to the column portion, and a different toothed structure in contact with the arc-shaped toothed structure. The chair is also configured such that when a weight is applied to the seat portion, a fulcrum point of the leaf spring moves as the different toothed structure moves along the arc-shaped toothed structure to thereby shorten a working length of the leaf spring and provide an increased resistance to tilting of the backrest portion relative to the column portion. A process for assembling the chair and a weight-based tilt-resistance assembly for use with the chair are also described herein.

Disclosed herein is a reconfigurable apparatus that includes a backrest, a seat coupled with a column, a linkage statically attached to the backrest, a leaf spring in direct contact with the linkage, a first structure fixed to the column, and a second structure. The first and second structures each have one or more teeth. The chair is also configured such that when a weight is applied to the seat, the one or more teeth of the second structure move along the one or more teeth of the first structure to thereby shorten a working length of the leaf spring and provide an increased resistance to tilting of the backrest relative to the column. A process for assembling the reconfigurable apparatus is also described herein.

A reconfigurable apparatus for sitting and having a seat mounted on a frame and movable under the weight of a sitting user. As an incident of the user sitting, resistance to movement of a back rest component is increased a predetermined amount based upon the user's weight. A manually operable subassembly allows the increased resistance to be changed from the predetermined amount with the user sitting on the seat.

Apparatus with weight responsive changeable adjusting characteristics

A reconfigurable apparatus for seating a user and having: a frame; a seat movable relative to the frame between: a) a first position in which the seat resides with no user sitting on the seat; and b) a loaded position; a back rest with a changeable angular orientation relative to the frame; and an adjusting assembly having a plurality of gears that move relative to each other as an incident of the seat moving from the first position into the loaded position to thereby cause an increase in resistance to changing of the angular orientation of the back rest.

A movable human support structure has a support against which at least a part of a human can be borne in use, a base, and a first motion transmitting assembly acting between the support and the base. The first motion transmitting assembly has at least one link member connecting between the base and the support. The at least one link member is configured to be movable: a) relative to the support around a first axis; and b) relative to the base around a second axis. The first and second axes are non-parallel to each other. The first motion transmitting assembly is configured to guide movement of the support relative to the base in opposite directions in a non-straight path.

Movable human support structure

A reconfigurable apparatus having: a frame; at least a first component on the frame upon which a force is applied in a first manner in using the apparatus for its intended purpose; and at least a second component on the frame that is movable relative to the at least first component and/or the frame and upon which a force can be applied in a second manner to reconfigure the apparatus by moving the at least second component relative to the at least first component and/or the frame. An adjusting assembly cooperates between the at least first component and the at least second component and is configured so that as an incident of the force being applied in the first manner changing, the force being applied in the second manner required to reconfigure the apparatus changes.

A sitting apparatus having: a frame; an upwardly facing surface on the frame for supporting a user in a sitting position; a first arm support on the frame defining a first surface against which a user's arm can be rested with the user in the sitting position on the upwardly facing surface; and a first connecting assembly acing between the frame and first arm support. The first connecting assembly and first arm support are configured so that the first arm support surface can pivot relative to the frame around at least first and second different axes to change a relationship between the first arm support surface and the frame.

Sitting apparatus

A monitor assembly having an electronic monitor with a frame and a display area and a support assembly configured to act between the monitor frame and a support for the electronic monitor. The support assembly has at least one link member configured to be movable: a) relative to the monitor frame around a first axis with the support assembly in operative relationship with the monitor frame; and b) relative to the support around a second axis with the support assembly in operative relationship with the support. The first and second axes are non-parallel to each other. The electronic monitor is guided in movement relative to the electronic monitor support around the first and second axes to thereby reposition the monitor display area relative to the support.

Monitor Assembly

A sitting apparatus having a frame configured to be situated at a sitting location. A seat assembly on the frame defines a support for a user in a sitting position. At least one armrest assembly has at least one surface to support an arm of a user in a sitting position on the seat assembly. The at least one armrest assembly is configured to be changed between first and second states. The at least one surface changes in angular relationship to a horizontal reference plane as an incident of the at least one armrest assembly changing between the first and second states.

Task lamp

A system that makes up at least a portion of a utilitarian article and having: a first body; a second body; and a first linkage assembly acting between the first and second bodies and configured to allow the first and second bodies to be relatively positioned to thereby reconfigure the article into which the system is incorporated. The first linkage assembly has first and second linkage parts. The first linkage assembly is configured so that: a) the first linkage part is movable relative to the first body around a first axis; b) the second linkage part is movable relative to the first linkage part around a second axis; and c) the second linkage part is movable relative to the second body around a third axis. At least one of the first, second, and third axes is non-parallel to the other two of the first, second, and third axes.

System usable in articles to facilitate relative movement between parts thereof

A mouse for operating an electronic device and having an actuating base, that is movable relative to a guide surface to thereby perform a function on an associated electronic device, and a moving assembly for the actuating base. The moving assembly has an elongate member. The elongate member is constructed to be: a) operatively held in a user's hand that is configured to hold the elongate member in the same manner that an elongate writing instrument would be held by a user's hand during a writing action; and b) moved while being operatively held to thereby cause the actuating base to be moved relative to the surface. The elongate member connected to the actuating base for controlled guided movement relative to the actuating base.

Mouse for operating an electronic device

A monitor stand for supporting a computer monitor includes a base having a base portion and a support arm extending upward from the base portion, and a support panel attached to the support arm. The support panel may comprise a curved panel having a curved front surface, and the support panel may support a computer monitor at the curved front surface. The monitor stand may include a bracket assembly for attaching the computer monitor to the support panel, such as via a tongue and groove configuration. The monitor stand may include including at least one storage shelf extending from a rear surface of the support panel, and may have housing that substantially encases the storage shelf. The support panel may include an aperture for routing wires or cables of the computer monitor, and the support arm may include a passageway for routing wires or cables of the computer monitor.
