Responsive to determining that the historical data associated with the one or more of the media items satisfies the viewership rate, the owner is determined as eligible to participate in a performance sharing program. A communication for a client device associated with the owner of the media items to invite the owner to participate in the performance sharing program is generated.

Videos to be hosted at an asset hosting platform and submitted by an owner of the videos are received. The videos are provided for consumption by users of the asset hosting platform. A system and method generates a popularity score for a first video based at least in part on first popularity data. The popularity score indicative of a popularity of the first video. The system and method retrieves first historical data including historical popularity of a second video submitted by an owner of the first video, in view of determining that the popularity score for the first video is greater than a predetermined value. The system and method determines that the second video is eligible to participate in a video performance sharing program based at least in part on the first historical data. A system and method to associate an electronic gift certificate with a payment services account to cause presentation of the electronic gift certificate based on meeting a predetermined condition. A gift certificate is purchased on-line and associated with a recipient's payment services account by the electronic gift certificate purchaser. A graphical user interface representing the payment services account of the recipient is presented with a record of the electronic gift certificate in a hidden state within the payment services account. Determining the predetermined condition is met, unmarking the record of the electronic gift certificate and causing presentation of a gift certificate button within the user interface representing the payment services account.

The examples provide a content item distributor computing system that is configured to determine characteristics of content providers and providing content items to certain categories of content providers. In one embodiment, the content item distributor receives a request from a content provider to receive content items and determines if a provided set of video content has a minimum number of viewers and meets a standard for upload content. In response to the determination, the content item distributor communicates a content item to the video content provider to present in conjunction with video content.

Categorizing digital content providers

A system and method for sharing revenue associated with a video is disclosed. The method includes generating a popularity score for a first video based at least in part on first popularity data. The popularity score is indicative of present and future popularity of the first video. The method also includes retrieving historical data includes historical popularity and profitability of multiple videos submitted by an owner of the first video, in response to determining that the popularity score for the first video is greater than a predetermined value. The method also includes determining that the first video is eligible to participate in a revenue sharing program based at least in part on the retrieved historical data. The method includes generating a message for a client device associated with the owner of the first video to invite the owner of the first video to participate in the revenue sharing program.

Methods and system for admitting a content provider into a revenue sharing program are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving a request from a content provider to participate in the revenue sharing partner program and determining whether to invite the content provider based at least in part on infraction information associated with the content provider.

Monetization of digital content contributions

A system, method and various user interfaces provide an embedded web-based video player for navigating video playlists and playing video content. A website publisher can create and store a video player with customized parameters (e.g., player type, appearance, advertising options, etc.) and can associate the player with a playlist of selected videos. The stored video player is associated with a player ID in a player database and can be embedded in a website using an embed code referencing the player ID. A user interface for the embedded player provides controls for controlling video playback and for controlling the selection of a video from the playlist.
