A butterfly valve includes a body with a bore through which exhaust gas may flow and a valve member rotatably mounted within the bore for restricting flow through the bore. A stop extends into the bore to limit movement of the valve member and prevent the valve member from rotating to a closed position. The stop defines a restricted flow position at which the valve member is positioned between an open position and the closed position. An internal combustion engine utilizing the butterfly valve is also provided.

Valve stop for engine with exhaust gas recirculation

A control system for a gaseous-fueled engine is disclosed. The gaseous-fueled engine may have an intake valve mechanically driven by a camshaft. The control system may have a variable valve timing device configured to adjust a cyclical opening and closing timing of the intake valve. The control system may further have a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of a speed of the engine and a controller in communication with the variable valve timing device and the sensor. In addition, the controller may be configured to selectively initiate a first Miller Cycle timing and a second Miller Cycle timing based on the signal.

A fuel air mixer includes a fuel air mixing tube having an inlet, an outlet, and an inlet inner diameter. A collar is attached at the mixing tube inlet and includes a first cylindrical portion upstream of the mixing tube inlet, and a body portion encircling the mixing tube at the mixing tube inlet and forming a fuel reservoir around the mixing tube inlet. The first cylindrical portion is spaced from the mixing tube inlet to create a gap placing the fuel reservoir in fluid communication with the mixing tube inlet. The first cylindrical portion has an inner diameter that is smaller than the inlet inner diameter so air flowing through the first cylindrical portion and into the mixing tube inlet draws gaseous fuel from the fuel reservoir into the mixing tube through the gap.

An air exhaust mixer assembly includes an upstream intake section with an upstream elbow and a downstream elbow. A mixing tube is configured to introduce exhaust gas into the upstream intake section at a location upstream of the downstream elbow. An internal combustion engine utilizing the air exhaust mixer assembly is also provided.

Mixing system for engine with exhaust gas recirculation

An engine system includes an exhaust system fluidly connected to an electronically controlled engine. Exhaust from the engine may travel a first pathway through a turbine of a turbocharger, or a second pathway that bypasses the turbine. An electronically controlled wastegate vale is biased to close the second pathway. An electronic controller is in communication with the electronically controlled engine and the electronically controlled wastegate valve. The electronic controller is configured to execute a wastegate diagnostic algorithm to detect a stuck closed default condition of the electronically controlled wastegate valve, and derate the engine in response to detection of a stuck closed fault condition.

Anti-sticking and diagnostic strategy for exhaust system valves

An internal combustion engine includes a plurality of combustion cylinders, at least one turbocharger, an air supply line, an exhaust gas line and an exhaust gas recirculation system. An exhaust manifold of the exhaust gas line may have both non-direction specific and modular pulse exhaust manifold elements. If the internal combustion engine has dual cylinder banks, an exhaust gas balance tube may extend between exhaust gas lines of the cylinder banks and be fluidly connected to an exhaust manifold between the ends thereof.

A relief valve is provided for use with a fuel system. The relief valve may have a housing forming an inlet, an outlet, and a central bore fluidly connecting the inlet to the outlet. The relief valve may also have a valve element disposed within the central bore of the housing and being configured to move between a flow-passing position and a flow-blocking position. The valve element may have a passageway continuously communicating the inlet of the housing with the outlet of the housing. The relief valve may also have a resilient member situated to bias the valve element toward the flow-blocking position.

A fluid leak limiter for a high-pressure fuel injection system is disclosed. The fluid leak limiter may have a body at least partially defining a central bore with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and a sleeve piston. The fluid leak limiter may also have a spring located to bias the sleeve piston toward a first flow-blocking position. The sleeve piston may be movable by a first pressure differential between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet against the bias of the spring toward a flow-passing position at which fluid from the fluid inlet is allowed to flow to the fluid outlet. The sleeve piston may also be movable by a second pressure differential between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet against the bias of the spring toward a second flow-blocking position at which fluid from the fluid inlet is inhibited from flowing to the fluid outlet.
