Disclosed is a bis-imide compound comprising two or more aryl moieties substituted with ethynyl moieties and the two or more aryl moieties each having one or more polar substituents. Further disclosed is a polymer composition comprising a copolymer polymerized from a monomer mixture of (a) one or more first monomers comprising a bis-imide compound comprising two or more aryl moieties substituted with ethynyl moieties and the two or more aryl moieties each having one or more polar substituents; and (b) one or more second monomers comprising two or more cyclopentadienone moieties. The polymer compositions exhibit favorable properties for use in electronics and displays applications.

Provided is a composition comprising a compound having structure (I) wherein each of A, A, A, A, A, A, A, and Ais independently CRor N; wherein one to four of A, A, A, A, A, A, A, and Aare N; wherein Jis C or Si; wherein Jis C(R), O, (C(R)), S, NR, or Se; wherein n is 1 or 2; wherein each of R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, and Ris independently H, deuterium, or an organic group. Also provided is a method of making the composition, a method of making an organic light-emitting diode using the composition, and an organic light-emitting diode made by that method. 

Spiroacridine derivatives

Acoustic wave sensors comprise: a piezoelectric layer, first and second electrodes arranged with the piezoelectric layer in a piezoelectric transducer circuit; and a polymeric sensing layer for adsorbing a gas-phase analyte, the adsorption of which analyte causes a change in resonant frequency of the piezoelectric transducer circuit, wherein the polymeric sensing layer comprises: (a) a polymer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: polyarylenes comprising the reaction product of monomers comprising a first monomer comprising an aromatic acetylene group and a second monomer comprising a cyclopentadienone group; polyamides; polypyrazoles; or novolacs; or a cured product thereof; (b) a polymer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: polyamic acids; or polyamic acid-polyimide copolymers; (c) a polymer formed from one or more monomers comprising a monomer comprising a polar group-substituted arylcyclobutene group, or a cured product thereof; or (d) a polymer comprising polymerized units of a monomer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: maleimides; or norbomenes; or a cured product thereof. The acoustic wave sensors and methods of using such sensors find particular applicability in the sensing of gas-phase analytes.

Fluorene derivatives as light emitting elements for electroluminescent devices

Acid generator compounds are provided that are particularly useful as a photoresist composition component. Acid generator compounds of the invention comprise 1) a cyclic sulfonium salt and 2) a covalently linked photoacid-labile group. In one aspect, thioxanthone acid generator compounds are particularly preferred, including acid generator compounds that comprise (i) a thioxanthone moiety; and (ii) one or more covalently linked acid labile-groups.
