In dental surgery and orthopedic surgery, implants of the bio-compatible hydroxyphosphate are used. Molded bodies or a granulate thereof are obtained by sintering in a moist oxygen atmosphere. These products are of a blue color. In accordance with the invention, white products are obtained by sintering in an inert atmosphere in which the oxygen concentration is maximally 0.005%.

Method of manufacturing molded bodies from hydroxyphosphate

A deflection unit (6) for a cathode-ray tube having a yoke ring (9) of a sintered, oxidic, ferromagnetic material. The yoke ring has a reduced wall thickness with respect to the wall thickness of conventional yoke rings, such reduced thickness being less than 6 mm and preferably in the range from 2 to 4 mm, and yet the ring is of sufficient mechanical rigidity because it is essentially stress-free. That may be achieved by sintering and cooling the yoke ring so that the oxygen content near the surface differs very little from that in the interior thereof, or so that a substantial difference in oxygen content is only present in a very thin surface layer thereof.

In the manufacture of a flared ferromagnetic annular core for a television deflection unit in which a moulding (13) consisting of compressed starting material is supported in a hollow holder (11) having an inclined inner wall (12) on which a considerable part of the flared outer surface of the moulding (13) bears during sintering. Allows compression and expansion of the moulding to take place.
