A multi-stage, self-priming centrifugal pump assembly includes at least two pump stages () which are consecutive in a main flow direction (), and a backflow channel () which lies parallel to at least one a pump stage (). The backflow channel () runs out downstream of the first or a further pump stage (), in the main flow direction ().

A multi-stage centrifugal pump assembly includes at least two impellers () and two impeller groups () which are consecutive in a flow direction and each with at least one impeller (). A backflow channel () connects an exit side of the first impeller group () to an entry side thereof is located in a first impeller group () of the two impeller groups ().

The impeller for a centrifugal pump includes a carrier disk and possibly a shroud. The blades of the impeller are identical, but are arranged in pairs such that impellers of different hydraulic characteristics are formed with blades of the same shape.

An axial face seal (), which seals a pump housing in the region of the pump shaft (), is constructed in an axially compact manner. Spring holders (), which transmit the required pressing force of a compression spring (), are connected to one another with a positive fit in a rotation direction, and hold a rotating axial face seal ring () in a rotationally fixed manner to the pump shaft (). The spring holders () are compact and enclose an abutment ring () for pump impellers as well as the compression spring (). A motor-side spring () engages over the rotating axial face seal ring (), by which an axially extremely short constructional length is achieved.

A submersible motor for driving a centrifugal pump. The motor includes a rotor space filled with a fluid and the rotor space on the pump side is sealed by way of a sealing formation penetrated by the motor shaft which carries the rotor of the motor. In the rotor space between the sealing formation and the rotor there is provided a stationary separating wall, letting through the motor shaft, for forming a smoothing space in front of the sealing formation.
