A portable, sustainable, and efficient system and apparatus for breaking down processed solid plastic waste and other polymer-based feedstock into fuel oil, sustainable energy, carbon char, and other useful products. With minor modifications, biomass can also be treated. Distributed microwave heating sources and mechanical mixing effectively mix heat in a highly insulated reactor that protects the microwave components, makes fast pyrolysis possible, and thereby enables scaling down to compact and highly portable systems. Products include diesel, gasoline, propane, butane, and char. Product materials are distributed using tight temperature control and mechanical routing.

Microwave methods for converting hydrocarbon-based waste materials into oil and gas fuels

Various antenna designs that are small and cost effective are disclosed. In one design, the antenna is a bent and folded monopole antenna. In another design, the antenna is a folded and tapped monopole antenna. In yet another design, the antenna is a folded, bent, and tapped monopole antenna. The antennas may be part of a system using two back-to-back symmetric antennas. The antennas may be part of a modem, such as a wireless computer modem or a wireless handset.

A residential gateway (RG) for distributing video, data and telephony services to multiple devices within a residence is disclosed. The RG receives signals from a telecommunications network, converts the signals to formats compatible with the multiple devices, and transmits the appropriate signals to the appropriate devices. Optical Remote Control devices (RCs) associated with remotely located televisions (TVs) transmit channel select commands to the RG as optical signals. The optical signals are received by an optical receiver located in close proximity to the remotely located TVs. The optical signal is then converted to an RF signal by an RF transmitter which transmits the RF signal over coaxial cable. A Remote Antennae Module (RAM) extracts the channel select command from the RF signal and provides it to the RG.

Optical conversion device

A high potential/high efficiency amplifier contains at least two separate amplifiers. One amplifier is used for the typical inputs that are received from an input source and a second amplifier is used solely for peak inputs. Utilizing the second amplifier to handle the peak inputs allows the first amplifier to concentrate solely on the typical inputs. A small resistor tied to the output of the second amplifier reduces the output of the second amplifier. Thus, when the output of the first and second amplifiers are equal, the output of the first amplifier will be applied to the load. When the input exceeds the operational value for the first amplifier, the first amplifier logically disconnects itself from the load and the output of the second amplifier is applied to the load. Once the input returns to a value within the limits of the first amplifier, the first amplifier becomes operational again, and the resistor again becomes a barrier to the second output being applied to the load.
