We’re pleased to share the Top 50 most prolific Charlotte-based utility patent holders! 

Please note that this is USPTO utility patent data analyzed between January 4, 2005, through January 10, 2023. These insights were derived directly from USPTO data and publicly available LinkedIn detail. 

Where no information was readily available, we’ve left notations blank but the rankings intact. (It’s our hope we can connect with these individuals so that we may offer some background to complement their names.)

We will monitor USPTO patent grant updates and attempt to make any modifications where the need for reordering of the stack rankings arise.

Mr. Fawcett

Mr. Fawcett is a self-described inventor and writer. He works as an inventor with InVue doing technical and marketing research on long-term technology platforms and development and freelances for various writing endeavors including a recently published book, Rad Plastic as a part of TKAF Publications, as well as magazine articles and screenplays. 

Mr. Fawcett received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron in 1997 and his Master of Business Administration, Marketing from East Carolina University in 2015.

Misha Ghosh

Misha Ghosh is a Senior Vice President in Financial Health Data with Wells Fargo Bank.

He and team won Wells Fargo’s 2020 Invention of the Year for a Risk and Operations initiative; Ideated and Developed MasterCard Retail Location Insights in May 2014, and was recognized by Bank of America as the Inventor of the Year for 2008.

He received his B.S in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from San Francisco State University in 1989, M.S in Statistics from the University of California, Davis in 1991 and his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 1998.

Ms. Hanson

Ms. Hanson is a patent strategist with Wells Fargo Bank. She has experience in innovation, product and channel development, creative problem-solving facilitation, relationship building and marketing. She has been in financial services for over 20 years, primarily focused on the evolution of digital/mobile banking.

Ms. Hanson received her Bachelor of Arts, Advertising from Michigan State University in 1992.

Mr. Grant

Mr. Grant has over 25 years’ experience as an innovation and design practitioner, transforming user insight, iterative prototyping and technology transfer into market demand. He is currently the Director of Innovation at InVue. Mr. Grant has designed satellite hardware for NASA, invented toy & game concepts at IDEO, and transformed the customer experience at Bank of America.

Mr. Grant received his BS, Engineering: Product Design from Stanford University in 1998 where he was awarded the Chilton Memorial Prize for “Excellence in Product Design.”

Tom Philpott

Tom Philpott is a Partner and VP, Engineering & Design at Enventys.

With more than 15 years of engineering and product design experience at Enventys Partners, Tom has helped create countless products across a range of industries. His experience developing innovative new products means that he is able to take even the most complex ideas and turn them into a marketable, scalable, successful product.

He graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
