Recognizing Inventors with Centurion+ Utility Patents as of November 7, 2023

Shilpa Talwar

Intel Fellow and Director of Wireless Systems Research in the Intel Labs organization at Intel Corporation.

She leads a research team focused on advancements in ultra-dense multi-radio network architectures and associated technology innovations.

Her research interests include multi-radio convergence, interference management, mmWave beamforming, and applications of machine learning and AI)techniques to wireless networks.

Shilpa graduated from Stanford University in 1996 with a Ph.D. in Applied mathematics and an M.S. in electrical engineering.

Patent №: 11811439 (November 7, 2023) – Millimeter wave (MMWAVE) system and methods. This invention is a mobile communication device that excels at cancelling interference within received millimeter wave band signals. This device utilizes a receiver circuit to receive the signal, adjust its gain, cancel any interference, and eventually adjust the gain again.

Samuel M Shaolian

Founder and CEO of ThruFlo Endovascular.

Mr. Samuel M. Shaolian has more than 30 years of experience in the design, development and management of biomedical devices and companies. Prior to founding Valcare Medical, Mr. Shaolian founded and served as CTO of Micardia Corporation, developing novel mitral repair systems.

In 2000, he founded Vettelink Corporation developing a minimally invasive instrumentation and method for spinal fusion Vertelink Corporation was acquired by Medtronic in 2003. Mr. Shaolian also served as Vice President of R&D for Endologix, designing and developing products for the treatment of aortic aneurysms.

Mr. Shaolian holds a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Sc in Biomedical Engineering from Tel Aviv

University, Israel.

Patent №: 11806009 (November 7, 2023) – Device, system, and method to secure an article to a tissue. This device offers a unique way to anchor an article, such as a medical implant, to the tissue securely. By transitioning from a deployment state to a securing state, the device creates a stable connection between the tissue and the article being secured.

Debasish Banerjee

Director, Material Research at Toyota.

Over 20 years of experience in leading material science research in diverse areas, including photonics, thermal physics, acoustics and applications of machine learning in material discovery.

Patent №: 11812597 (November 7, 2023) – Multi-layer electomagnetic shielding composite.

This invention presents a multi-layered material designed to shield low-frequency electromagnetic waves. The material consists of alternating layers of electrically conductive and magnetic materials, providing efficient protection against electromagnetic waves with frequencies below 1 MHz. Banerjee’s patent suggests the use of conductive metal layers or two-dimensional transitional metal carbides and offers versatile applications as thin films or flakes integrated into resin composites.

Jan Hendrik Lucas Bakker

Director Standards at BlackBerry.

Patent №: 11812318 (November 7, 2023) –Preserving emergency call during failure to transfer.

This patent presents a system and method that ensures seamless and uninterrupted transfer of emergency sessions from one network to another. By leveraging smart registration protocols, this innovation guarantees that ongoing emergency sessions remain connected, even in the event of network transfer failures.

Patent №: 11812357 (November 7, 2023) – – Methods and systems for provisioning emergency numbers. It introduces a method and device for efficiently providing emergency number information on user equipment. This technology allows for quick and reliable emergency calls by automatically selecting the most suitable network domain, be it circuit-switched or packet-switched, based on the dialled number.

Karim Zaghib

CEO – Electrifying Society (CFREF) and Professor at Concordia University.

As former director of research at Hydro-Québec, he helped to make it the world’s first company to use lithium iron phosphate in cathodes, and to develop natural graphite and nanotitanate anodes.

Dr. Zaghib holds an M.S. (1987) and a Ph.D. (1990) in Electrochemistry from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble. In 2002, he received the Habilitation degree [H.D.R.] in Physics (Materials Science) from Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (Paris VI) in France.

Patent №: 11811068 (November 7, 2023) – Cellulose-based self-standing films for use in Li-ion batteries. This patent focuses on the development of self-standing electrodes for electrochemical cells, particularly their application in lithium-ion batteries. This technology involves using a water-based filtration process to produce these electrodes. By incorporating a hydrophilic group-grafted electronically conductive material, cellulose fibres as a binder, and electrochemically active material, these self-standing electrodes exhibit improved performance in LIBs.
