Prolific inventors in Canada include James Naismith (1861 – 1939), who is best known as the inventor of the game of basketball; Reginald Fessenden (1866 – 1932), who developed radio technology, including the foundations of amplitude modulation (AM) the radio; Joseph-Armand Bombardier (1907 – 1964), his most famous invention was the snowmobile; Yvonne Madelaine Brill (1924 – 2013), she is responsible for inventing the Electrothermal Hydrazine Thruster (EHT/Resistojet); Frederick Grant Banting (1891 – 1941), the co-discoverer of insulin and its therapeutic potential; Henry Woodward & Mathew Evans – Invented and patented the electric light bulb; Abraham Pineo Gesner (1797 – 1864) was a physician and geologist who invented kerosene.
