Jun-Mo Kang

Mr. Kang received a B.E.E. degree in electrical engineering from Korea University in 1993, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1997 and 2000, respectively.

He is currently a Senior Research Engineer at General Motors R&D, Warren, MI. His research interests are in the control and modelling of advanced technology engines and the optimization of dynamic systems.

Patent №: 11722037 (August 8, 2023) – Interior permanent magnet motor having controllable coolant distribution.

This is about an electric motor with a controllable way to spread coolant. The motor has a housing and a spinning part inside. There are coils around the spinning part. On top, there’s a place with oil. A tube connects this place to the coils and can move. When it moves, it lets oil flow over a certain part of the coils to cool them down.

Tsau-Hua Hsieh

Patent №: 11721787 (August 8, 2023) – Method of manufacturing display device.

shows a schematic cross-sectional view of the display device.

A method of manufacturing a display device is disclosed. A light-emitting unit is provided. The light-emitting unit has a chip and at least one bonding pin. The light emitting unit is mounted on the substrate through at least one bonding pin, and an adhesive material is applied to a space between the chip and the substrate.

Juan Alejandro Herbsommer

Quantum Devices team Lead, DMTS at Texas Instruments.

Mr. Herbsommer is an innovative entrepreneur and leader in Quantum Information Science, mm-wave semiconductors and power electronics.

He developed a new generation of AlN piezoelectric devices and RF LDMOS transistors for telecom applications. At Ciclon Semiconductors (a startup formed from Bell Labs) he was one of the technical leaders that developed a new generation of MOSFET devices for power applications. After 3 years of inception, Ciclon was successfully acquired by Texas Instruments yielding so far more than 2 Billion dollars of revenue.

Patent №: 11719577 (August 8, 2023) – Integrated compact mmW spectroscopy cell system and method. This is a small system to detect certain chemicals in gas using mmW spectroscopy. It has a chamber to collect gas, a space to prep the gas, pumps to move it, and a transceiver to send and receive signals. The transceiver analyzes the gas using electromagnetic signals and compares the results to a database. Everything is made using chip manufacturing techniques.

Chun-Chieh Wang

Patent №: 11719252 (August 8, 2023) – Fan.

a schematic diagram of a fan.

A fan adapted for being disposed of in an electronic device is provided. The fan includes a hub and a plurality of metal blades respectively extending from the hub. Each of the metal blades has a root portion connected to the hub and an end portion away from the hub, and the mass of the end portion is greater than the mass of the root portion, such that the metal blade is elongated while the fan is rotated.

Kenji Morita

Engineer at Preferred Networks, Inc.
