Martin F. Schubert

AI and AR at Meta. Ex-Google, Glo, and Micron.

He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University; a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

At Google X, Mr. Schubert founded and co-led an undisclosed deep tech project. He directed the project’s scientific and machine learning research, collaborating with leading academic groups, external research organizations, and other Google teams.

Previously, Martin held a broad role at Glo (a Google-funded microLED startup acquired by Nanosys) which included process integration, device design, data science, and software development.

Prior to joining Glo, he was a Principal Engineer on the emerging memory cell team at Micron Technology, where he focused on nonvolatile conductive bridge RAM, including cross-point select devices for high-density arrays.

Fan Bai received a B.S. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA.

He is currently a Staff Researcher with the Electrical and Control Systems Laboratory, Research and Development and Planning, General Motors Corporation.

Mr. Bai has authored or co-authored 90 research articles in top-quality conferences and journals. He has authored one book and six book chapters. His current research is focused on the design and analysis of protocols/systems for next-generation vehicular networks, for safety, telematics, and infotainment applications.

Dr. Bai received the Charles L. McCuen Special Achievement Award from General Motors Corporation in recognition of his accomplishment in the area of vehicle-to-vehicle communications for driver assistance and safety.

He was featured as “ITS People” in 2014 by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine for his technical contributions to vehicular networks and intelligent transportation systems. He serves as the Technical Program Co-Chair for IEEE WiVec 2007, IEEE MoVeNet 2008, ACM VANET 2011, and ACM VANET 2012. Dr. Bai is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. He also serves as a Guest Editor for the IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine, the IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, and Ad Hoc Networks (Elsevier). He is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE.
