Florin Udrea received an M.Sc. degree from the University of Warwick, Coventry, U.K., in 1992, and a Ph.D. degree in power devices from the University of Cambridge, in 1995.
He is currently a Professor at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Udrea is the Cofounder of two companies: Cambridge Semiconductor and Cambridge CMOS Sensors
Patent №: 12310088 – Heterojunction based half bridge. A compact, reliable heterojunction-based half-bridge is formed in a single active area with two devices sharing a common contact between the first device’s drain and the second’s source.
Patent №: 12294356 – Mixed material power devices and driver circuits. A power IC includes a GaN chip with a 2DEG-based power device. A GaN-integrated low-side driver discharges gate capacitance during turn-off, while a high-side driver in non-GaN material charges it during turn-on.
Cellular Systems Engineer at Apple.
Patent №: 12309827 – Collision handling.
A UE detects overlap between two uplink channels and, if found, creates a combined payload with parts of both transmissions. It then sends this payload on one of the channels, which is received by the base station.
Patent №: 12309808 – Managing concurrent multi-rat uplink transmissions at a user equipment. A UE receives uplink grants for two RATs (e.g., 5G NR and LTE) and manages concurrent transmissions by adjusting scheduling. It may drop some transmissions or adjust BSR timing based on whether multi-RAT uplink is allowed.
Fellow R&D Product Development Engineer at TE Connectivity.
Patent №: 12308546 – Connector for a flat flexible cable.
A flat cable connector includes a base, a cover, and a terminal. The cover latches to the base and presses the terminal’s tab into place when closed.
Staff Engineer at International Game Technology.
Patent №: 12307860 – System, method, and device for back-betting progressive prize pools in a gaming system.
A system manages two prize pools: one from wagers at electronic gaming machines (EGMs) and another from back-bets on user devices. When a prize is awarded from the first pool, a corresponding prize is automatically awarded from the second.
Patent №: 12307859 – System, method, and device for back-betting progressive prize pools in a gaming system. A system manages two prize pools: one from wagers at gaming machines, and another from back-bets on user devices. When a prize is awarded from the first pool, a linked prize is automatically awarded from the second.
Patent №: 12307855 – User identification verification in association with transferring funds to a gaming table. Systems and methods verify a user’s identity during fund transfers from their gaming account to a gaming table component.
Engineer at Micron Technology.
Patent №: 12307111 – Block family-based error avoidance for memory devices.
A memory system manages block families by assigning blocks during programming, tracking temperature and time, and closing the family if limits are exceeded.
Automotive control expert (ADAS, autonomy, propulsion), member of the National Academy of Engineering, IEEE Fellow.
Patent №: 12304515 – Vehicle path adjustment.
A system with a processor and memory determines a virtual barrier around a vehicle using user input and sprung mass data, updates it based on further input, verifies it against vehicle parameters, and provides corresponding output.
