Jonatan is the founder and CEO of Divideon, a video compression software company based in Stockholm, Sweden. He is also currently working as a consultant for Sharp Labs of America. Previously, he worked at Apple and served as a consultant for Facebook.

Jonatan began his career in video compression research at Ericsson in 2007, shortly after earning his M.Sc. degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. At Ericsson, he held roles as a researcher and project manager for the Video Standardization and Algorithms project.

In one embodiment, an encoder ensures that for each long-term picture in a reference picture set (RPS) of picture i, the flag delta_poc_msb_present_flag[i] is set to 1 if there are at least two reference pictures in the decoded picture buffer with the same least significant bits (LSBs) of the picture order count (POC) as the long-term picture i (POC_lsbLt[i]). When this flag is 1, the full POC is used to indicate the long-term picture.

A power-aware event scheduling technique includes receiving a scheduled reference event from a wireless access point, estimating data generation time for an application event, using timing info to divide data into frames, calculating an adjusted trigger time, triggering the event accordingly, and transmitting the frames based on the reference event.

Takashi Shibata received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2005 and 2007, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2017.

In 2008, Takashi joined NEC Corporation, Kanagawa, Japan, where he has been a Principal Researcher since 2018.
