Juho Lee

Mr. Lee is currently a Fellow (technical SVP) with Samsung Electronics, where he is leading research and standardization for mobile communications. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2000, has worked on 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, and is leading research for future technologies beyond 5G and 6G.

Juho received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea, in 1993, 1995, and 2000, respectively.

Patent №: 12021774 (June 25, 2024) – Method and device for transmitting and receiving reference signal in millimeter wave wireless communication system. A base station (BS) in a millimeter wave wireless system transmits reference signal configurations to a user equipment (UE), informs the UE of the specific configuration to use via higher layer signaling, PDCCH, or MAC CE, and then transmits the reference signal via a data channel based on the selected configuration.

Patent №: 12021619 (June 25, 2024) – Method and device for performing PAC code-based hybrid decoding in wireless communication system. This method for 5G or 6G communication involves a device dynamically selecting or performing PAC code-based Fano decoding and/or list decoding. It includes identifying a channel state criterion, comparing it to a threshold, performing Fano decoding if the criterion meets the threshold, and performing list decoding if it does not.

Andres Reial

Principal Researcher at Ericsson.

Physical layer algorithm and protocol specialist with expertise in WCDMA/HSPA/3G, LTE/4G, NR/5G, and concepts for 6G in both network and device domains.

Currently working in strategic concept development and standardization of energy saving, multi-antenna, and AI/ML solutions for 5G-6G cellular networks and beyond. Inventor or co-inventor of over 480 filed patent families.

Patent №: 12021609 (June 25, 2024) – Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network.

Methods and apparatus for fifth-generation wireless communications include:

  • A wireless device receiving a downlink signal with an uplink access configuration index, identifying the uplink configuration, and transmitting accordingly.
  • The device also receives two OFDM transmissions in different subframes with differing numerologies.
Liangping Ma

Sr. Staff Engineer at Qualcomm.

Dr. Ma is working on 3GPP 5G NR and multimedia systems. He was with InterDigital from 2009 to 2019, where he worked on 3GPP RAN, Quality of Experience (QoE) driven video communication, and machine learning.

Liangping received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware in 2004 and his B.S. in physics from Wuhan University, China, in 1998.

Patent №:12022457 (June 25, 2024) – Uplink pre-compensation in wireless communications systems. A user equipment (UE) obtains an uplink communications configuration, determines the duration for uplink pre-compensation based on configuration parameters, and transmits uplink communications with the pre-compensation applied within this duration.

Patent №: 12022307 (June 25, 2024) – Measurement of reference signal with polarization. This relates to wireless communication, where a user equipment (UE) determines the durations of gaps before and after a reference signal based on its polarization and performs a measurement of the reference signal using these gaps.

Torgny Palenius

Master Research Engineer at Sony Mobile Communications.

Patent №: 12021609 (June 25, 2024) – Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network.

Methods and apparatus for fifth-generation wireless communications include:

  • A wireless device receiving a downlink signal with an uplink access configuration index.
  • Using this index to identify and transmit according to a specific uplink access configuration.
  • The device also receives, in different subframes, two OFDM transmissions with differing numerologies.
Henning Braunisch

Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation.

Mr. Braunisch received his M.S. in electrical engineering from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA, in 1995, and the University of Hanover, Hanover, Germany, in 1996, and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2001.

Dr. Braunisch is a member of the Institute of Physics, London, U.K. He is a Past Chair of the IEEE Phoenix Section and the Vice-General Chair of the IEEE ECTC 2016.

Patent №: 12021289 (June 25, 2024) – Components for millimeter-wave communication.

A millimeter-wave dielectric waveguide connector includes:

  • A first and second connector interface
  • Dielectric material exposed at both interfaces
  • A metal structure surrounding the dielectric material with a flared portion at the first connector interface
