A key inventor of Flash-OFDM, the first commercially deployed OFDMA-based mobile broadband wireless communications system. A founding member of Flarion Technologies, a startup acquired by Qualcomm in 2006. At Qualcomm, he has spearheaded research projects on D2D communications, V2V communications, and mmWave communications. Co-authored the book, “OFDMA Mobile Broadband Communications,” published by Cambridge University Press.
Patent №: 11852719 (December 26, 2023) – Coordinated interference cleaning with known interferer location and timing. This invention focuses on wireless communications in vehicles equipped with radar systems. By compensating for interfering components and reflections
Patent №: 11855828 (December 26, 2023) – Low overhead tracking reference signal for frequency tracking. This disclosure pertains to wireless communication. User equipment (UE) can select a tracking reference signal (TRS) pattern for receiving TRS signals. The TRS pattern may include multiple TRS symbols with varying bandwidths or tone allocations. The UE then receives TRS signals based on this pattern, with more details available in the disclosure.
Patent №: 11856603 (December 26, 2023) – Sharing channel occupancy time across nodes of an integrated access backhaul network. This relates to wireless communication in unlicensed 5G spectrum within an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network. An IAB node can acquire and share channel occupancy time (COT) with parent and child nodes, enabling communication with other IAB nodes in the network.
Patent №: 11855737 (December 26, 2023) – System and method for beam switching and reporting, which presents a method for optimizing wireless communication. This invention allows base stations to transmit beams through a set of transmit beam indexes, each indicating a specific transmit direction. Additionally, Li’s patent introduces the concept of sending reference signals associated with transmit beams, enabling improved communication performance.
Patent №: 11856534 (December 26, 2023) – Transmitting sidelink reference signals for joint channel estimation and automatic gain control. This disclosure pertains to wireless communication. A receiving user equipment (UE) gets a sidelink reference signal from a transmitting UE in the first symbol of a slot and uses it for joint channel estimation and automatic gain control (AGC).
Patent №: 11855788 (December 26, 2023) – Techniques for feedback reporting by a repeater. This disclosure relates to wireless communication. A repeater node receives a communication, measures it, and then sends feedback to a control node based on that measurement, all as part of a digital repeating operation.
Patent №: 11856638 (December 26, 2023) – Discontinuous reception configuration and sidelink operation with mode-1 and mode-2 scheduling. This involves wireless communication over a sidelink between two UEs. The first UE receives a sidelink grant from a base station, transmits accordingly, and monitors timers for round trip time and retransmission. If a second grant isn’t received during the retransmission timer, the first UE can enter discontinuous reception (DRX) mode.
Patent №: 11856570 (December 26, 2023) – Dynamic mixed mode beam correspondence in upper millimeter wave bands. This pertains to wireless communication where a first device can change its beam correspondence with a second device over time or in specific situations. The second device adjusts parameters for the first device accordingly, affecting various communication modes and procedures, like initial access, beam recovery, power-saving, or high-temperature scenarios.
Patent №: 11856569 (December 26, 2023) – DCI for common TCI state update. This involves beam updating methods. The method includes receiving DCI and determining if it’s for uplink, downlink, or both. It also determines a TCI state indicating the beam to be used.
Patent №: 11856517 (December 26, 2023) – Signaling for multi-panel UE activation. This disclosure addresses the activation of multi-panel user equipment (MPUE). When the MPUE decides to activate its second panel, it notifies the base station from the active first panel and, after a delay, sends an uplink transmission from the now-active second panel.
Patent №: 11856418 (December 26, 2023) – Techniques for downlink forwarding in wireless communications systems. This relates to wireless communication, enabling efficient signal forwarding from a base station to a repeating device based on the device’s configuration and buffering capability.
Tingfang Ji
Head of the Flagship 5G Research Program at Qualcomm.
Patent №: 11855731 (December 26, 2023) –Parallel shift estimation.

The patent outlines a technique that involves transmitting signals between two apparatuses and determining compensation parameters for antenna offset based on linear offsets. This innovation holds great potential for improving the performance and efficiency of antenna systems.
Muhammad Ali Kazmi
Principle Researcher, Radio Network Performance Requirements.
Patent №: 11856430 (December 26, 2023) –Methods for managing parallel measurement gap patterns for radio resource management and positioning measurements.

This patent is about a network node communicating with a wireless device. The node determines the radio link monitoring (RLM) state of the device, which operates in overlapping time with two modes, and schedules signals accordingly.
Hyoungsuk Jeon
Senior Technical Staff at Ofinno Technologies.
Patent №: 11856446 (December 26, 2023) –
Scheduling request for transmission of a buffer status report.

This innovative wireless communication technique involves the transmission of scheduling requests and buffer status reports via logical channels and radio resources, ensuring efficient handling of data availability and resource allocation.
