Xue Dong

Development Director at BOE OT since 2003.

He received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Materials Science from Beihang University in 2000; a Master of Science (MS) in Materials Science from Tsinghua University in 2003.

Patent №11656721 (May 23, 2023) – This invention introduces a pixel circuit that includes components for controlling light emission and detecting touch input. Components work together to enable the display device to function effectively.

Patent №:1659157 (May 23, 2023) –  The system includes a naked-eye stereoscopic display device that shows predetermined images in a specific order. The processor analyzes the monochromatic images to determine preset crosstalk amounts for each pixel, measuring how much views from different angles impact the colour values seen from a specific viewpoint.

Jungsun Kim

Kim received a Ph.D. degree in computer science and electrical engineering from the Seoul National University, South Korea, in 2008.

She is a senior software engineer at Apple Inc., Cupertino, California.

Her research interests include video/image processing and compression, colorimetry, and point-cloud compression. Jungsun has participated in various standardization activities since 2009.

Patent №: 11659191 (May 23, 2023) –  Kim developed a method and apparatus for processing a video signal that improves image prediction accuracy. The method includes receiving information on pictures, the most significant bit (MSB) and flag information. The system acquires multiple image reference units and combines them to obtain a unit prediction value. Marking is performed on the reference picture based on certain conditions. This approach enhances the quality of video signals on various platforms.

Ha Hyun Lee

Mr. Lee received a B.S. degree in electronics engineering from Hankuk Aviation University, Seoul, Korea, in 2002. Master’s degree in Mobile Communication and Digital Broadcasting Engineering from (UST) University of Science and Technology, Korea in 2007.

From 2002 to 2005, he was a research engineer at LG Electronics, Korea. Currently, he is a Senior Research Engineer in the Broadcasting Media Research Group of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea.

Lee’s research interest includes video coding, video adaptation and video transmission.

Patent №: 11659159 (May 23, 2023) – This image encoding method and device involve encoding blocks within a slice. A reference block is chosen from a restored block in the same slice. The encoding parameters of the reference block are differentiated, and the block being encoded is adaptively encoded using these parameters.

Hung Dinh Ly

Hung D. Ly received a B.S. from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Vietnam, in 2002. M.S. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, College Station, in 2012, all in electrical engineering.

From 2002 to 2005, Ly was a Lecturer with the Faculty of Telecommunications Engineering, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

Since April 2012, he has been with Qualcomm Research, San Diego, where he is currently a senior staff systems engineer.

His research interests are in the field of information theory, wireless communication, and signal processing.

Yuriy V. Mikhaylik

Director, Materials Development at Sion Power Corporation.

Prior to joining Sion Power Yuriy held various management and research positions at the Ukrainian National Academy of Science, Kyiv, Ukraine. He managed a team that developed a rechargeable D-size Li-Sn/TiS2 battery with operating temperature capability from minus –40 to +150o C. This cell was employed for deep oil/gas well explorations. He was a principal investigator on programs relating to lithium rechargeable batteries, lithium primary batteries and high-power double-layer capacitors for the Ukrainian National Space Agency.

 Patent №: 11658352 (May 23, 2023) – System and method for operating a rechargeable electrochemical cell or battery. An electrochemical cell management system includes a cell and a controller that regulates charging at a lower rate than the previous discharge. A corresponding management method is provided. Another system triggers discharge before/after charging. Lastly, a system monitors cell characteristics and adjusts discharge/charging rates accordingly.

Takahashi received BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Patent №: 11653824 (May 23, 2023) – This medical observation system consists of a medical device and an image processing device. The device generates a composite image with a wider dynamic range by combining multiple images with different brightness levels.

Doo Kyung Yang

LG Energy Solution Research Fellow.

Mr. Yang received Ph.D. in Chemistry from Cornell University in Dec. 1998.

He has made a significant impact on the field of lithium batteries. 

Patent №: 11658293(May 23, 2023) – A sulfur-carbon composite consists of a porous carbon material with sulfur coating on its interior and surface. A method for preparing this composite is also provided.
